Ok, I just went to the therapist for my eval. I guess I did not know what to expect, but the guy treated me like a moron, like i wanted to be BIG and that its just emotional eating. So not true in my case. Any how he said I needed to come back for 3 more sessions for some other tests, did yall have to go through this? Im starting to feel overwhelmed with everything.

I never had to have one but 3 more sessions sounds excessive - maybe you need to find another shrink before he makes a lot of money off of you because if he still says no after an additional 3 sessions you will probably be turned down for surgery..... Jackie

I have been teaching psychology for years and the doctor accepted my own evaluation of my eating, so I didn't have to go to the psychologist. Sorry I'm no help. You have to jump through the hoops, though. Lois

After having told you that I had to go through six months of dietary monitoring and lose 20 pounds, I will say that the psy eval for me was so so easy. In fact it was on the phone and questions like 'do I take drugs', 'have I ever wanted to hurt myself' just basic ones. In fact I thought it was a total farce. But I wasn't about to complain. This is part of the silly process that they have us go through. I think three sessions is a bit much but I have heard of people being denied because they got too fiesty. Try to follow the plan and keep yourself just doing what you have to do to get it done. It is so so worth it!! love donna

Monica, I had to have a psych eval. They told me that all their patients have to have them. Mine was pretty relaxed and I answer a bizillion questions and even talked about my child hood a bit but he said I was a well balanced person despite the past and recommended me for surgery. 3 more visits does sound excessive but like Lois said you have to jump through a lot of hoops. I have passed everything and still don'e have a date.....just one of those things and no point getting upset about it. If your insurance covers it then I would just go but I would check with your surgeon's office and see if they have someone else you can go to. A therapist should be someone you feel you can talk to, regardless of the reason you are seeing them. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps. Anna
