Hi all. Just a quick update. I'm on my way now to see my surgeon for my "decision" visit. I'm not sure what that entails exactly, but I do find out if they're happy enough with my "package" to submit to insurance. Also, whether or not he'll take me as a patient. I have no fear about my candidacy as a patient, just whether or not I've met his criteria for submitting or if I have more hoops to jump through. Bottom line, I'm a little nervous. I'll post later what happened. Have a great day. ~Ellen

The visit went well. They said I was an excellent candidate, which I knew. My file appears complete for submission. So they'll send it this week, or right after Christmas. Here's the thing though. I heard them talking about my insurance company in the hallway. They said that they are being very picky and rejecting a lot of people. Also, they said that it's taking a month and a half to two months to get an answer after submission. So instead of looking at February, I could be looking at March or even April or May, and that's if I get accepted on the first try. Also, they're talking about putting in a filter. Anyone have one of those? Thanks for the kind words. Take care. ~Ellen

Hi Ellen! Remember me? You're former Lake Buddy?! I certainly hope it all works out with your insurance company..... you've waited a L O N G time for this!!! I don't know if it would help, or if you've already done it....... but, something I did that helped me get approved for the RNY and plastic surgery is get: 1. The specific requirements from my insurance company for the procedure 2. Letters written by 3 different doctors stating my medical necessity and the reasons - but written to the language and requirements of the insurance company. 3. Submit the letters with all the surgeon's information. For whatever it's worth - I hope it helps. I got approval for both in 2 weeks. Keep up the good spirits, and happy holidays! Crystal
