Hello All, Well, 17 days and counting until my Lap RNY...yikes. Im nervous to say the least. Dont get me wrong Im ready, but that doesnt take away my nerves. Ive never even had stitches so the unknown is a little scary. I keep having the same nightmare...I make it out of surgery and when I get home I have no bed. Weird huh? I'm also nervous that I will be too afraid to eat when I'm cleared to solids. Did anyone have this concern? Thanks in advance, Courtney

We all shared those fears. Very common and quite normal. Congrats on your upcoming day! Best wishes, Kathy

I am right behind you... only 32 days for me! However I am having on open RNY, removing my gall bladder at the same time. I dont' want the chance of more surgery later. I've had 4 kids, hysterectomy, appendix removed and wrist surgery. I hope this is the very last time I am ever cut on! I am very anxious, having trouble focusing on anything. My family is sick of hearing about it. I have four different TV shows about WLS on my TIVO and watch them over and over. My surgeon is on one of them, so I feel like I really know him! We will make Courtney! Kim

Hiya Courtney !!! And congrats to you on the upcoming big event !!! The dream..WOW...I need to dig through my books on Dream Interpretation. I wonder if means that life will never be the same after this surgery. And it won't !! It will be better !!! I was ready to eat girl !!! After the liquids for so long, you are ready to try something. At first things don't sit as well as they will later...and a bite is all you will want. Good luck and don't be a stranger on here !! Dana

Coutney we all had fears like yours prior to surgery....it is very normal. I had never had surgery before my RNY either so I had never been put to sleep and all the horror stroies I had heard - but it was not bad - I barely remember any of it.... Oh believe me when you get the chance to eat solids you will be ready - you won't be able to eat much but you will be ready...... you will be so sick of liquid food lol! You only have a couple of weeks left to have the best thing you have ever done for yourself started. It is an exciting journey back to good health but one that you will not regret! Take care Jackie

I'm so excited for you!! This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself. I'm only two months out but I'm loving it!! As the rest of them have said once you get cleared for regular food you will be VERY ready!! The biggest thing is to take is to take it slow, trying new things for me was scary! Before surgery I liked tuna, afterwards it made my belly upset after just two bites. Oh and a trick I learned for being on a liquid diet. I got so tired of eating the regular broths and stuff that I would heat up regular soup (low in sugar of course) and drink the broth from them. It had a better taste to them since it actually had other things in it. My favorite was a beef stew. My older brother would actually eat the rest of the soup so it worked out well for the both of us! The dream sounds weird! But it's just your nerves getting to you!! I didn't sleep in my bed the first night. However, after sitting and laying in the recliner for a day and 1/2 I was ready for my bed!! Let me know if you need anything!! ~Kimberly
