The only problem I've had is ulcers. But treatment is easy and I'm doing much better now. Other than that, I've not had anything else happen (Knock on wood). The thing is, when we chose to have surgery it's extremely important for us to fully understand that we can have complications even years down the line. I've seen many older post-ops have problms 5-7 years down th eline mostly due to vitamin problems, some end up with scar tissue. You have to be vigilant about protein and vitamins for life. It's not something we can stop. As for gallbladder, I'm glad mine came out with my RNY. You don't really need it anyway! As for other problems. Well, think about how much people's health before WLS can affect them after. Even loosing all the weight cannot make problems that existed before WLS dissappear overnight. Damage that was done to your health may while you are obese is not completely erasable. That being said, I do agree that maybe our new lifestyle may have a negative impact on our overall immune system. The first year I was out from surgery, I had no less that 6 colds and a bad case of he flu. It's seemed that because I was intakeing less calories and struggling with vitamins, it somehow made my immune system weaker. But once I was in the maintenace stage and started taking anti-oxident herbs, I have not a single cold. When everyone was dying from the flu last season, I was great. I think my body just needed to time to play catch-up from the shock of surgery and lack of daily calories. Jane

Hi, guys. I'm just going to reply to everyone in one message. I just wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to respond and put a lot of effort into helping me. Everything that you guys have said makes sense. I guess there are a lot of different things that can happen to people WLS or not. I just haven't been around as long as most of you and the list of my friends having health problems was piling up and I got really nervous. I just hate that you guys are going through all of this, it doesn't seem fair after everything we've been through. Life on life's terms. Just have to remember that. You guys are all in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you're all better SOON!!! Amber
