I am just trying to get my chickens in a row for my surgery on wedesday and of course probably over thinking everything lol I found this store near potomac Mills Mall called " Center for health and weight loss" a protein store. I went there and they gave me a huge bag of single serving samples from Juices to pudding to jello to broth soup and everything they have has 15 grams of protein in it. The woman there had the surgery and suggested if im going to sip on fluids dont waste it on water use water mixed with one of the juices that have 15 grams of protein .. I have tasted them and so far they taste good I know my taste will change some but what she said made some sense. I am looking in my basket of goodies she gave me they even have fruit flavored pink lemonaide no sugar and still 15 grams of protein. If you havent gone to this shop you should... it has everything and they have a website also to order from. so guess my question is should i do that instead of just drinking plain water? mix in some juice with protein. thanks Beth

My advice would be to do a mixture of both - you need water to flush your system too. That is a great place by the way - Mala and her husband (the doctor) are extremely helpful to us WLS patients. They are also on line on www.ishophere.biz but if you visit their shop they give you a load of free samples to try. I love some of their protein bars and their protein pretzels. However you probably should not do bars etc for a couple of months..... or at least that was what I was told by my surgeon's office. Jackie

Beth, The Center is a good place with great people. I'd suggest doing what Jackie said... a mixture. You do not need to do protien all day long. Your body handles protein differently than plain water. Different processes. Kathy

Count me in on agreement with both Jackie and Kathy .. Mayla's group is awesome . I would keep it a mixture as well ... water and protein . You will need to focus more on the fluids in the begining rather than protein .. that will all work itself out . Just remember to take it slow and easy .. Hugs, Natalie

I know Mala and the Doc very well! I went there for about a year and a half - Doc treated me on a Supervised weight loss plan with diet pills. Worked well until my body got immune to them and I gained everything I lost plus some back. They are great people - And buying supplements from them is a great idea. They have everything under the sun that you can think of - Lots of variety!!

I wish I lived closer, I'd love to try new things. I would definitely try the stuff, but it was recommended to me not to worry about protein until after my first post op appointment. You just need to stay hydrated. Good luck and I hope you have an uneventful surgery!!! Amber
