18 hours of sleep later...

Howdy Y'all, Boy, do I feel better! I've been sleeping solid since getting home from the hospital yesterday (solid for me being up about every 2 hours to the little girls room ). I HAVE been awake since about 9:00. Of course I got no sleep in the hospital, and I did survive despite anesthesia's best attempt to kill me with too much morphine--I had to be given NARCAN twice! I deserve all this sleep and am feeling better thanks to percocet. Being 114 pounds lighter, hiking and trail running make a huge difference in my response to the surgery. I actually feel better than I did having both children via section 25 years ago, and that is the incision he used again. Another surprise--my stomach has REALLY shrunk! Way back to immediately post-op size. I am eating and drinking so little that I am having to make sure I get in what I need. I have no desire to eat whatsoever. Certainly don't want to get sick or start losing hair again . My last day at work one of my students finally brought me the info about the local hiking group and all I am waiting for is no pain, no percocet=driving and hiking again, hopefully with NEW faces. New MENS' faces . Speaking of faces, it was so great to have familiar faces at the hospital on Thursday: JoAnn to keep reminding me and everyone else NO NSAIDS, NO bllind NG, Shannon having her own tests and Melinda for her dr's appt. How wonderful to you all these friends and support that I didn't have just over a year ago. I am so thankful to everyone on our board! Thanks to all of you who sent me e-cards. that 's such a nice service for the hospital to provide. Can't wait until I have doctor's clearance to go back out in the woods, now that I have finally been given contact numbers for the local Appalachian Trail Club bunch. Smooches, Lois

Lois, you sound so much better after a decent amount of sleep. That is very negligent of the hospital to give you too much morphine! You could have died! I hope you continue to heal well! Jackie

Lois, Too much morephine! Yikes! Glad that you are okay. How scary. Glad to hear that you are resting well. As for the hiking club... my friend Gerry met his wife Mary through one of the hiking clubs up this way. Not sure if it was Appalachian or Potomac. I think finding people with the same interests is always a good thing and you just never know... Take care, feel better and heal well! Kathy

I'm so glad that you are feeling better! As you know, they did the same thing to me with the morphine after my first spine surgery. GO NARCAN! I was glad that I had cold hands the other night-it made it easier to get you to wake up and breathe!! Kayte was right--couldn't leave until you were breathing okay! Get some rest--you need it! Talk to you soon! Love you! J
