Talked to the doctor

Well, Tom called UVA and left a message with my surgeon's secretary this morning. Dr. Shen, my wonderful spine surgeon, called me late this afternoon. He is going to prescribe stronger pain medicine; we'll have to go pick up the Rx since they can't phone it in, but that's okay! He is going to get me in sooner than my scheduled appointment. He also is going to get another MRI set up for me. (They haven't done one since my 2nd surgery, so I think this is a good idea.) He also was not happy at the advice his PA gave me on the phone yesterday. ("We can't do anything. Just go to the ER.") Dr. Shen is sooo wonderful. I knew that if HE ever got the message that I was in such pain that he would have a plan and get things moving! It's just a shame that you have to go through so much crap to get in touch with the right person. Thank you all for your concern! You all truly are my extended family and I love you! JoAnn

JoAnn, sounds like you have a wonderful doctor! I hope the new meds work better for you. I think sometimes we can get immune to some if we take them for a long time. Anyway, sounds like things are going in the right direction and you are in good hands. Isn't it nice to have this forum where we can spill our guts (well, not exactly but you know what I mean) and get such good support? love donna

Hey sweetie, I'm so sorry you are in such pain. I hope the MRI gives the surgeon some guidance on how to help you. Meanwhile, take whatever you need to relieve the pain. I hate that you are feeling so poorly. Miss ya Wendy

I am SO GLAD that you were able to get something different. Don't hesitate to let them know if this does not work for you. As you, I am sure, already know....they WORK FOR YOU, girl. You PAY them...LOL....and you don't pay them to be in constant pain. I hope you are able to get some rest now...and some answers with the newly ordered tests. Please let me know how it goes.
