Surgery date!!!
I have a date finally! I'm so excited and scared all at the same time. So November 20th will be my rebirthday, it seems all good things happen to me at the end of the year so this is perfect for me. Does anyone have any suggesstions on things I should take to the hospital with me. I know I need my slippers, a pillow and my teddy bear for the ride home and chapstick. Does anyone know how to get an Angel? I don't know if I really need one...but it would be nice. I'm having my surgery at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Hopefully I'll be home for Thanksgiving...we will see. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Congratulations Raven! It is always exciting when you get your date and things will only get better after that!! Actually you need to cough after surgery so your teddy bear is needed during your stay too....
People said to me to take a book to read and I did but I never read it - too busy socializing and walking lol!!
Good luck and if you need to know anything we are all here to ask!

Well I'm taking my school book because unfortunately online college doesn't wait. I have a really light load this term though so I should be fine. I'm also taking it light next term (they're eight week courses) and my surgery is at the beginning of my fifth week this term so I should be good on that front. I plan on walking as much as possible as well. Thanks for the info on the teddy bear, I planned on having him there the whole time it's the only way I can sleep by myself since I got married, lol. Thanks so much, I've been waiting for awhile now (Portsmouth has a LONG wait) so I'm still in shock almost like it isn't happening yet but it is. I have less than 3 weeks left until I'm on the loosing side....actually 18 days. I have all of the fears that I've seen posted here before but I'm taking it day by day remembering all the reasons why I am doing this (the two major ones are in the other room...my girls) and that it will all work out for the best in the end, I just need to walk my path so that's what I'm doing. Thanks again, hope you have a great day!
Blessings,
Raven
Congratulations, Raven! That excitement is priceless. I don't know your system, but hopefully your nutritionist will give you a good list of things you need to have. As far as the hospital goes, I packed way more than I needed. I brought a fan, I still haven't gotten it out of the box. I didn't use the PJ's I brought until the I was walking out. Now my robe came in handy, especially when you're hanging out there! I was in so much pain, all I wanted to do was sleep. Unfortunately that didn't happen, so I walked and watched TV alot. My hospital provided the toiletries, but I brought some of my own. My own pillow would've been nicer. It's really over before you know it!
As far as the Angel, I'm sure someone will volunteer. I would, but I'm not going to be here at that time and I wouldn't want to leave ya hanging!!! There are plenty of other Hampton Roadians, hehe! I'll be thinking of ya and praying for ya!

Hey Raven,
Congratulations on your surgery date. It's always exciting when you finally get your approval and a date. Being excited & nervous is perfectly normal. It is a major surgery but I did fine without any complications. Actually, I didn't experience very much pain either. My recovery was easy and I wouldn't change a thing. You too are going to do fine. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.
Lots of Love
Kathy
