I was so excited that I finally got a follow up appointment with Dr. Moazzez this morning. I'd been having serious stomach pain every time I ate, occasionally followed by severe gas and a BM. I went in, told him all my symptoms and he told me to eat less dense meats! WTF? Oh, and even though I told him I had BMs up to 3 times per day (mostly diarrhea), he gave me advice on constipation. I don't understand. I've had friends say it sounds serious, that it may be IBS or an ulcer and all he told me to do was eat fish instead of beef? Well, he scheduled a follow up in 3 months, so I was hoping you guys might have some advice on how to deal with my symptoms until then. I had someone recommend Tagament...has anyone ever tried that? Thanks...I'm really frustrated, I appreciate any help. BTW, I'm 12 mos. out from open RNY.

Hey there LB What you may want to check is the labeling on your foods. Even if you are eating stuff that says "sugar free" be sure to check the sugar alcohol. That will cause diarrhea and the gas. I know this from personal experience. I discovered sugar-free ice cream. Thought I have found all the gold in Fort Knox until I realized it didn't agree with my system. That's about the only thing I can suggest and it comes from personal experience. Lots of Love Kathy

AWWWWWWWWW BABY!!!! I'm sorry he couldn't help you more. It almost sounds like he didn't really understand what you were saying????????????? I agree with watching the sugar alchohals............gives me major gas pains (there are very few things that cause diarrhea for me unfortunately) I'd try to stay away from dairy products for awhile too, just to see. If he said to stay away from beef, or dense meats, I'd try to eat my veggies with the meats to get them to digest easier. It does take away that feeling of fullness though, which is why it's considered a bad thing. I'd say just try different things and if it doesn't get better then give him a call back to reschedule sooner!!! We're here for ya baby!!!!!!!! XOXOXOXOXOOXOXO Sharon

I wouldn't let this go for another three months. If he won't give you any satisfaction, get with your PCP about getting referred to a gastro doctor after you have tried the helpful hints you have been given for no more than a week. I wish you the best. Loris

L B, I have had a reoccuring problem with a "bleeding ulcer". I gather from what you posted that your's isn't of the same variety. However, the first one I had (damn near killed me) has since healed and some how I've managed to develope another in a different area. My gastric doctor (not my WLS) has me on 4 Prilosec per day. While I wouldn't recommend taking that many.........I'd probably say take it over Tagament since it has a longer lasting effect than the other. Hope you're able to figure it out. Keith P.S. My girl, PinkPrincess has been experiencing the same sort of problems. She's also on the VA Boards if you want to look her up and compare notes.
