Update on parathyroid
Hi everyone
I am sorry it has taken so long to get back with you all. I stay busy, so I don't get online very much at all. I saw the endocrinologist Monday morning and he ordered a bunch of tests. They did more blood work, ordered a 24 hour urine test, and since I had a total hysterectomy 9 years ago, he wanted to do a bone density test. I have had all the tests and am waiting on the results of those. He said although my vitamin D and calcium looks great, my vitamin D is on the low normal side, which could be causing the problem. He did however make a preliminary diagnosis of hyperthyroidism. He said that if my tests come back good that he wanted to check my thyroid glands for a tumor. however, he is leaning more toward the vitamin D not being where it should be. That is all for now, I will keep you updated on this. I hope everyone is doing well.
Hugs

Hey, Judy....
Do you know what your Vitamin D, PTH and calcium levels are?
The nutritionists at Fair Oaks have just upped our minimium Vitamin D level from "normal range" to a minimum of 40. Mine had been hovering the 25 range (very low normal) so I upped my D while waiting to go talk to my doctor. She ran my Vitamin D and the amount I increased worked so no other changes needed - I'm now in the 40s.
I had a parathyroid tumor for a few years prior to WLS (they are hard to find) and had it removed in February.
Keep us posted!
Hugs, Kathy
Hey, Judy glad to see you back. I know what you are going throught I go on the Oct 31 to the endocrinologist because of my sugar and my thyroid being high. So I will let you know how that turns out. I also found out that I might be going into renal failure, but will find out about that when I go on the 31th. I am starting to take calicum +d for my bones.
Hi Hunnnney,
Glad to hear from you finally. I am busy, too. Some of it by choice and other work related things.
Wonderful to hear about your loss!! I am only 23 pounds from MY goal. We are close. I assume you are doing really well in your new abode.
Hope you will come to an M n G before too long.
Hugs,
Lois
