Dear Support Group Leaders, As most of you are aware, the SRC has recently issued an update to their requirements to become a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The new support group requirement reads as follows: Requirement Nine: Support Group Leadership "The support group moderator must be a licensed or certified health care professional. This requirement becomes effective October 1, 2006. Applicants whose site inspection occurs prior to October 1 will be reviewed under the current interpretation, which does not require licensure." The Support group I belong to - Dr Halmi's - is run by the Nutritionist - his Partner, Dr Anez also has his support group run by his Nutritionist. So I am sure Potomac Hospital and Fair Oaks Hospital will qualify for the Centers of Excellence........ Jackie
