Dancing this Saturday - VaBeach!

SATURDAY, August 26th is for dancing!!!!! From noon till waaaaaaay-past-dark - in Virginia Beach, so please come and join us!! It's a great way to meet fellow friends from the board, regardless of your current stage in the journey of weight loss. Pre Op, Post Op, No Op, spouse or friend of an OP - all are welcomed. The ONLY requirement? Bring a smile and some comfy shoes then get ready to burn some calories cause many that will be there Saturday really love to dance and NEVER SIT DOWN! Ive decided to leave Sunday in an "unplanned" sorta way. Many of the out of towners are leaving through out that morning and afternoon, so I havent a clue who will still be around and how many of the LOCALS are planning on showing up that day as well. I figured we can hammer out the "details" as a group, when we meet on Saturday. Speaking of Saturday, here are the tentative plans. Keep in mind, there is the SURF COMPETITION going on this weekend on the boardwalk, and a SOUL FESTIVAL - so it's gonna be crowded. With that in mind, the "white rockers" at the Hilton that we normally plant our butts in might already be taken - BRING a blanket, chairs, etc, in case we end up on the lawn or out on the beach/sand. Saturday/Afternoon We're starting off at the 31st street beach boardwalk - some (or most) already know the spot. Behind the Hilton Hotel, facing the ocean, in the big white rockers. A band starts playing there at Noon called "Beach Nuts" never heard of 'em but with a name like that, I like 'em. If we get there around 10:30 or 11:00 we'll have the entire lawn area to set up chairs, near the rock wall and maybe even enough rockers to plant our butts on. We can tan, jam and yap with good friends...and of course dance, for a few hours! You can either bring a cooler with munchies and drinks or you can pivot around and head to the bar/restaurant right behind you. Also, the beach is only a 30 second walk away. So we can set up camp somewhere near the music and still run down to the beach when we're due for a MERMAID FIX!! The band stops at 4:00, which would be a great time to start breaking up camp and heading to our homes/rooms to get ready for the evening, which starts at 8:30 pm. Side note: Nannette, if you're reading this, the above referenced 'pivot' is TO the restaurant I was telling you about in the email yesterday. It's called "31 Catch" and it's in the Hilton, they have indoor and outdoor seating - facing the beach or the boardwalk. Lunch is pretty reasonable, starting at $8 or $9 and up. Dinner is a little pricier, starting at $15 and going waaaaay up. If you and Gene want to grab a bite to eat, that might be the perfect place - this way you're also able to hang out with your sunburned beach buddies. Saturday/Night The club is called "Night Fever" [ http://nightfeverdanceclub.com/ ] they are located near VaBeach Blvd and Newtown road. The actual address is, 800 Baker Road, phone 757-473-9746. I've called and made reservations for 15 - if you're name is NOT on the list below and you're wanting to meet us there, speak up in this thread and I'll adjust the count. If you're not sure and want to decide at the last minute - no problem, SHOW UP, would love to see you - but we might have to 'shark out' an extra chair as they come up. I requested that they hold our reservations till 8:30 - it's important that the core list of people be there by 8:30 to insure that it's not given to another group. I have NO idea how busy this club is in the summertime, I've only gone during the winter. We may not need to worry about "losing our table" if all the locals are hanging out at the beach, which is possible. So far, these are the people I know will be there. SUNDAY/Afternoon This is a casual get together at the beach. No specific time constraints, come and go when you can. I put an event schedule together (posted below) of what's going on that day for those that are interested. I have NO clue how long people are planning on staying in town so I'll leave the "Sunday planning" for Saturday when we get together as a group and can talk more about it. Here's the calendar of entertainment for the boardwalk on Sunday: Sunday's Boardwalk schedule, August 27 - Fireworks at 10:15pm, oceanfront Band "10 Spot", 7:00-11:00pm, at 7th Street Stage Patsy Cline - A Tribute, 7:30pm, 8:30pm at 13th Street Salsa w/ Tumbao Salsero, 8:00-10:30pm, 17th Street Park Band "Nuff Sed", 8:30-11:00pm, 24th Street Park Band "Tropical Steel", 2:00-6:00pm, 31st Street Park Band "Another Life", 6:30-10:30pm, 31st Street Park Sooooooooooooooo - quick recap, if you wanna join us at the beach Saturday, we'll be meeting at 31st between 10:30 and 11:00. If you wanna go dancing Saturday NIGHT and your name is not on the list gimme a hollar in this post so we can make sure we get you a seat. Keep in mind, everything at the beach is FREE (with the exception of parking) and I believe the cover charge at "Night Fever" is still $5. Last time I made reservations for a group this size, the cover charge was waved. Not sure if that's still the case, but if it is, make sure you're there ON TIME. They waive it as a "group" not as each person starts to show up. lol - of course, don't hold me to that, it might have changed since the last time. I had to leave a voice mail for the reservations, never actually talked to anyone so I couldn't confirm it either way. Okay - Iz done, anyone still awake out there?

We will be there with Bells On .. I am making reservations today at the local hotels down that way near Nite Fever . I am going to be calling Patty today to see if she is making res and where too . Well .. Alan wants to go to BG for the day Saturday , can't blame him as the kid wants to play .. LOL .. and we will not be able to use our VA Day Passes any more as they expire Next week . I am so looking forward to this , with all the stuff going on in my life .. waaaa I know .. Aaaaw, are we EVER gonna be able to do the beach together??? I didn't get to play in the ocean with you last time either - you stiffed us at the boardwalk for Ocean View (I think that was the beach you ended up at?). [ahem] ...methinks while you're on medical leave you should haul your butt down here for a day or two, let Alan and Paul "bring home da' paychecks" and you and I hit the beach or a day or two, before the weather turns on us? It's gonna be hard to find beach time, next summer, with us trying to sell a house, buy a house and pack up a house, ya know? Good Morning BEAUTIFUL MERMAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a quicky note to say Ashley is not coming, but as far as I know, Kat is. So subtract and add. adjustment to saturdays group numbers???? I have a good friend...Rick...would like to meet all my crazy friends...and Kat is going to be there also...so the number has risen from 15 to 17...except that unless sharon has said otherwise...I think ashley may have to pull out...something like school...and curriculum...I don't know...something serious...but what's more serious than a party??? You might want to check with sharon...but I will be there with a couple of folks in tow...might not stay the entire time...but will be there for a good while...You know how we old hippies are...can't keep up with you young whippersnappers!!
