Good Morning All! My insurance is Anthem Healthkeepers, anyone had any luck with them. I hope they will cover this, if not Im left with no options really. Being that Im 20, weighting 280, tired every diet in the book. Have Sleep apnea, borderline diabetic,Thyrodie issues,Poly systic Ovarian symdrome and skin conditions. It would cost them more than that to handle all of those things!! Let me know what you guys think! Becka

Hi Becka, You are going to have to check the policy. I have double insurance since starting my new job in January. That job is through a local Charlottesville hospital - my secondary insurance is through my ex-husband - Anthem Healthkeepers. They were acquired through his job at the beginning of this year after the previous insurance was going to raise their rates by 75% if his company had stayed with them. They dropped them and choose Anthem Healthkeepers, but they did not buy the extra "rider", which would cover the surgery, so they did not participate in any way with my surgery - didn't pay a dime. Most companies that choose Anthem Healthkeepers do not choose to buy the rider because it is very expensive, but you will have to check to see if they did. I would check the policy book under exclusions and then if in doubt you will probablly have to call the company that purchased the policy and see if they bought the "rider". good luck, Andrea

I had Anthem Healthkeepers and they did not cover any of this surgery! I was really upset as they would not even entertain it. I changed to my husband's insurance - BCBS Fed and was approved 4 days later. You need to go and check your policy by calling member services and they will tell you if it is covered or not. Good luck! Jackie

The only way HMO Anthem Healthkeepers covers gastric bypass is if your policy carries the rider for the surgery. Tammy

i guess it depends on what type of insurance you have through them. i have anthem healthkeepers plus (medicade) and they covered my surgery. i was approved the same day. they never gave me any trouble at all. i left my surgical consult and had a message when i got home that my insurance approved me. i got my surgery date that day! it was just all amazing. if you have any questions email me. my surgeon was dr. spencer with tiedwater surgical specialists in suffolk, va. my husband recently had surgery with him and i have a friend that is having surgery tomorrow! LOL. keeping it in the family, LOL. he is really just amazing though! good luck! susanne~
