Looking for workout buddy near Hampton VA/Langley AFB
I'm really needing something to help motivate me to workout. I had the LapBand on June 5 and have lost 34lbs... but I don't think that's going to last if I don't get my butt moving!
I have plenty of time and could work around most schedules. Ideally I'd like to workout mid to late morning... but would be happy to try and work with any schedule. I just need to do it and I'm hoping to find someone who would want to workout with me and be mutually accountable. My husband is Navy, so I can workout at the military base for free. I would have to check, but I bet I could bring a non military person to workout with me. The gym at Langly is new and really nice. I'm just intimidated to go to the gym! I think once I get started I'll get over myself... I know it's something I have to just get over, and I'm hoping having someone to workout with will help with my silly issue of going to the gym and getting motivated!

I've heard a LOT of good things about the Langly gym - if I remember correctly, it's also got a very up to date/hands on "Kiddie Care Program" if you have little ones that need to be watched?
LOL - now, all that being said, er.... GOOD LUCK to you, my happy [lazy?] butt is ALLERGIC to the gym. I bust out in all kinds of palpitations, complete with hyper ventilating. I've always had the hardest time getting myself to do a "structured' routine. I think boredom is my biggest problem - doing repetition type sets or 30 minutes on the same machine.
Thankfully, I have found that I get a lot of exercise out of just staying BUSY, walking, biking, swimming, etc... always on the go and always putting mileage on my feet. GOOD LUCK TO YOU - I truly commend your determination and am sure you'll be successful with it.

Thanks Leilani. I hope I can get into the habit of using the gym!! I've just been reading so much science on strength training... it's amazing what lean muscle can do for you! I think that if I start now with lots of walking and strength training, I can keep all the muscle I've built up by schleping all my excess fat around for so long. Unfortunatley, I don't stay busy like you!! I need to make up stuff to keep me busy! How rediculous is that!?
