I just found the Virginia board. Did not know they were state-oriented. What a great idea. Sorry if I am in the wrong place. Anybody here for Lap-Band? Leigh

Welcome "aboard" sorry I love puns. I am new here also. I am not Lap Band but there is a board/forum for surgery type also. When is your surgery? Best wishes Jenny

Welcome to both of you!! This is a great board for support, information, and friendship! This board is just full of wonderful people! (I hardly ever go to the main board anymore.) I would say that the majority of us have had RNY, but the board is for everyone. A friend of mine from church recently had the lap band. Hope to see you both here often. Welcome to our VA family!! Hi My name is Jackie. I'm just getting started my self and very nervous about the whole surgery thing. I noticed that you are located in Stauton as well. Are there any support groups in the area? I'd like to attend a couple of meetings. Also who is your surgeon? My doctor referred me to Dr. Bruce Shirmer in Charlottesville. I appolgize for all the questions, but you are the first person I've come across that lives in the same area as I do.

Hi, Jackie! My surgeon was Dr. Northup, who is in the same office as Dr. Schirmer. There are no local support groups that I am aware of, but I am thinking about starting one in this area. If I can be of any help to you, just let me know. You can email me at [email protected] or call me at 540-292-5058. JoAnn

Hi Bob! May I ask you a few questions. 1. Do you go to support group in the area. 2. Did you see a primary care physician before you met up with you surgeon? 3. I have United Health Care. Do you have to do all the interfacing with the insurance or did VCU help you out. I do not want to make any mistakes up front with the insurance company as they will do anything they can to put obstacles to keep from giving approval. 4. Thanks for your help. You sound like you are doing well. Good luck with seeing the #1 Parrothead! Leigh
