Norfolk / VA Beach Folks - Need Some Info!
Hi guys -- need some OT WLS info from those of you "in the know." My 23 yr old daughter, who is in the Navy, is being deployed for seven months and has decided to give up her apartment in VA Bch for this time. She is looking for a recommendation for a "military friendly" storage facility (climate controlled is preferred) to house her furniture and belongings during this period at a "reasonable" price. Anybody have any suggestions I can pass on to her. She has to be out of her place by Aug 31st so the pressure is ON!
Thanks for any info you can provide.
Hugs,
Nannette
Nannette, There are so many of these storage places around here and more are being built every day. Where is her Apt.? There is a nice brand new facility on Kempsville Rd at Indian River I pass it every day on the way home. She can store her car on base for no charge if she needs to and can even get a break on her insurance during deployment. I work at a church and we just rented a storage unit but the price was pretty high $300 a month I think it is a Shurguard.
Some offer free trucks to move in with. Google Storage facilities Virginia beach.
I will be happy to pass the word amongst our military ministry here and get the lowdown if you like. Just let me know what city she wants.
Best Wishes from a 26 year Navy Wife.
Jenny
Hello Nanette -
Glad you posted the question here too - sorry I wasn't much help, we've NEVER had to use storage places here. Our stuff showed up about 3 weeks AFTER we did, so by the time the movers brought it, we were ready to move it into our house.
Just read your email to me and I promise to ask Paul when he gets back, who they use for the 'single' sailors. I know they're about to deploy again for six months, so this information should be readily available. He won't be back for another week though, so with a little bit of luck, you and your daughter will have already lined up the perfect place. I suspect whoever Paul's boat uses is the same one that your daughter would be referred to, for their boat?
Can't WAIT to see you - talk about an unexpected surprise!!!! It looks like we'll be shooting for the weekend of the 26th/27th - although I have to wonder how the hell you'll be able to stay awake the night of the 26th after a 11/12 hour drive down. You did say you were driving, right? YIKES - don't pu**** woman. If we can't go dancing on Saturday we can always do the Beach-Mermaid thing on Sunday.
Anyway - we can hammer this down more as the time gets closer.
Hugs - Lei
Hey Lei - thanks. As for the drive down, my daughter makes it in only about 6 hours regularly -- remember that I am in South Central NJ - near the shore, so it wouldn't be as bad as you think. Also, Gene and I talked last night and I "think" he will be coming with me, so if he does, we'll bring the truck to help with the move and he will HAVE to drive, since the truck is stick and I don't drive stick!!!!
In any case, I want to go dancing Saturday if we get in early enough!!!!! I'll be in touch.
Oh, Track was very helpful with storage suggestions and I passed them on to Faith - let's see what she comes up with now.
Hugs,
Nannette
