People always yap...they don't have enough to think about, they are jealous, they are nosey and mean. Thats why I chose not to tell anyone. I am 8 months out and no one knows except the one person who was at the hospital with me, and like that dog on the beans commercial she ain't tellin. Torrie

Hey Spazzle! I heard a lot of the same things...the age thing was definitely about perception as I am nearly 35 but...I carry my weight well because before surgery, lots of people would say, "Don't you need to lose 100 pounds to get that?" According to the charts, I DO need to lose more than 100 pounds but why would I want to discuss that with random people. I still have people say, "You JUST had it?" My newest answer to people is that my insurance company paid for it so obviously they felt that it was ok for me to do it. That seems to shut people up...And the truth is, even if someone was not truly a candidate for surgery but they found a doc to do it, the insurance companies would not pay if THEY did not agree. The bottom line is, you are gaining control of your life before it gets further out of hand...why wouldn't you do it!! Keep your head up! You are making a GREAT decision! Christine
