Will B Thin Update

In my travels yesterday , I went and spent a lot of time with Bill . Folks ... this man has touched my heart so emensly . I walk in and I go over lay my head on his chest and we begin to weep . I told him that I was so proud to see him keeping up the fight . You all should see him . He has lost 50 plus pounds . He is up walking the halls !!!! He is now in Physical therapy !!! And his goal is to be home in a month !!!! He looked at himself in the mirror for the first time and was a little shaken by what he saw . He was not prepared to see the thinning of his face . We had a long discussion about this , as he said he felt ugly . I told him ofcourse he would have to get used to the thinning and to the weight loss , but ugly .. not he is so very handsome and he needs to tell himself each day these positive affirmations . Alan went with me and he too counseled with Bill , reminding him while he lay there .. he was regaining his life and that his children need him !! Bill is really struggling emotionally with all of this . They are treating him for it with meds , but he still will need some thearapy to deal with all that has happended to him . They will be moving him out of ICU today and down to the step down unit .. this is great news as well ..he will begin more intensive phys thearpy once down there . He looks great and he wants you all to know that he will be at our Event in January with bells on .. Keep him in your prayers and know they are being answered ! Love , Tink

Nat, That is so great! After all he has been through it is probably very hard to deal with emotionally. He almost lost his life and is lucky to still be here. It must be difficult for him...... thank you to you, Alan, David and everyone else for always being there for him. I knew him before he had surgery and he could not wait for this chance at a new life - it is very sad he had to suffer so badly to gain it - but he is here now and will surely gain the strength he needs if we are all here to support him.... I am glad he is getting out of ICU and hopefully not too long before he gets home to his family. His children must surely miss him! I am glad that Steph is doing better too - by the time Bill comes out of hospital she should be strong enough to help him cope... Thanks for the update! Jackie

Oh how touching! Thanks for the update Tink! I am so glad to hear that he is doing so much better! I think that if any of us hadn't seen ourselves in the mirror for a while then saw us for the first time 50 lbs lighter w/o seeing the day to day transformation it would be difficult for us all. I am glad he is getting help by meds for his emotional well being that will help him so much. Thanks again Tink. Hugs to Bill! Shele

Tink, Thanks for keeping us posted. Does this mean that he'll be able to have visitors now?? I've been up to St. Mary's a few times for appointments and wish I could have stopped by to visit him then, but in ICU he was unable to have visitors. ~Laney

Hi there, I'm from Michigan and participate on that board, but I've been keeping Bill in my thoughts all along, and have checked here periodically for updates of him. Go****'s been very scarry, but I'm so relieved to hear he's doing so much better. Tell him that even folks in Michigan are rooting for him!!!!
