I have a hair loss question. I am almost 5 months out and so far have not lost any hair. Does this mean I may not lose any or that I could still lose it later? I have taken all my protein etc since surgery but I wondered when the danger of losing your hair was over. My hair is already thin and fine and I really hope not to lose much of it Jackie

Hi Jackie.. This would be a great question for the main board. My opinion is, if you haven't started to lose any by this point that you are probably almost in the clear. From everything I have read it seems that most hair loss happens between the 3rd and 6th month for most people. I had my surgery March 7th and last week my hair started to come out more than normal. I am like you...fine, thin hair...so not much to lose without being in trouble. I have been on starvation diets all my life and dropped large amounts of weight and have never noticed hairloss..but maybe I just didn't pay attention to it. I don't understand why the follicle go into a resting state. Damn..all those anorexic movie stars have heads full of hair...so don't get what the difference is. Dana

Well your reply makes me rest easier but I still have a month to go for the 6 months lol! I know what will be, will be - but I am hoping I might avoid it. Those anorexic movie stars have hairdressers who can add hair extensions and do all sorts of creative things with their hair so they always look fabulous lol!! I had my surgery 22nd Feb and today got into the 180's (well 189 but it is still 180's right?) : Jackie

Congrats, Jackie! That's awesome. I am worried about losing my hair. I have fine hair now, but its still pretty "thick". I plan on taking more than the requirement for protein, I don't know if that will hel*****t, but I'm doing it anyway. Thankfully, my best friend lost a bit of hers, but all little new ones grew back. You can't even tell now. Amber

Amber - it is good thst you are planning ahead because I heard it is what you do in the first three months that affects what happens in the next three. I didn't take biotin or anything like that - but I have it just in case lol! Jackie
