Hi, I had the surgery last Thursday and have done wonderful. No pain, no problems drinking I am even back at work. The only thing I am having problems with is I am hungry. Everyone tells me you not suppose to be hungry but I am. Does anyone know anything I can eat to help out? I can't wait until next week when I get put on some foods again. Thanks for the help. Crystal

Crystal, I am sorry you are feeling hungry. I did not have that problem, but some days I do have it now. I would suggest adding another protein shake and drinking more water to help. Hopefully it will get better soon. I was almost a year out before I felt hungry and even now I do not feel that way most of the time. It was a very weird feeling to get used to! Tammy

I would never advise someone to eat before your doctor says to. You might cause yourself more hurt than that little bit of food is worth. One week out is SO early. Tell yourself this is the only medicine you are allowed to have right now. When hunger hits, try broth or your protein mixiture. I found reg. V-8 juice very satisfying in the beginning. You might call your doctor and ask his advice. Hang in there! Lois ;wave:

Hi Crystal, I am only a couple of weeks out myself but I really didn't have a problem with hunger. Are you on clear liquids or full liquids because if you are on full liquids, that usually includes cream soups, yogurt, sf pudding. Check with your doctor or nut but those types of things are a little heavier and may fill you up better. Christine

Hi Christine, I am only on clear liquids until I see my Dr. on Wed. My problem is I can not drink the protein shakes so I am only drinking protein juices and that is not filling enough. Can't wait til next week. Thanks. Crystal

Chrystal , What you are feeling is head hunger. When Dr. B did the surgery , he put out your fire per-sei .. you need to fight this . And the way to do that is with fluids right now . Your diet next week - will consist of very soft foods and you still will not be at a normal diet .. if you can call what we have normal LOL..... Get up and walk around .. do something with your hands .. but do not give into this .. it will pass .. you have to be smarter than the head hunger monster .. Keep frozen popcicles handy .. your carnation instant breafast .. but do not dare try to eat anything .. your pouchie is still so new .. and still healing .. you could rupture something . Just fight it .. Hugs to you .. and call on us if you need us . Natalie

Hi Natalie, I am having real hunger pains I can hear my stomach growling. My problem is I can not drink the CIB so I am drinking protein juices and they are not filling enough. I go back to the dr. on Wed. I can't wait. I just need something a little more to fill me up. I have been eating Jello and SF popcicles and chewing gum. If I can only make it a little longer. Thanks for your help. Crystal
