Hi friends, this isn't just a curiosity question, it's a cry for help!! I do not eat well. I have all my protein, at least 3 and most times 4 protein drinks a day I have not lost any hair at all, so I am getting in the protein I think, at least if that has anything to do with it. But I have trouble eating things. I can't eat meat, have trouble with chicken. Have trouble with salad. I can eat cheese. I can eat oatmeal. I can eat yogurt. I can eat eggs. I can eat fish but don't like it that much. So that is what I can and can't eat, and so you see my intake is limited. Greg is getting concerned cause he says he thinks I should be having more food. I don't know. I never go over 900 calories. Oh, and for those out there that think lower calories equates to more weigt loss - wrong! I plug along at about 7 pounds a month, since about December, and this month might be even lower. I am 9 months out this Friday!! So what do you all eat? Am I anexoric?? And then someone told me that at this stage of my surgery I shouldn't be having more than one protein drink a day - but more foodl help - advice - suggestions??? Thanks!! love donna

Hi Miss Donna! Of course I don't know much about your stage of the game but I was just talking to the nurse when I went to my follow up appt. (She had surgery 2.5 years ago) and she was giving me some ideas for getting my protein in. She recomended beans as a high source of protein. I know you said you don't eat fish (neither do I) but I LOVE shrimp. That has good protein and goes down easily. She also recommended that I try Tilapia which she said is not fishy. She said to nuke it for about a minute with lemon pepper and i can't believe it's not butter. stir and then nuke for another minute. I bought some, trusting that it will not be fishy...fingers crossed! I'll let ya know how it is. I know you said you have trouble with chicked...have you tried the canned chicken? It breaks up really well. She told me the same thing...by about 3 months or so, I should be getting most (if not all) of my protein from food. Unfortunately I'm sure nothing I have to say is new for you but hopefully I helped even just a little!! Hugs! Christine 253/238/134

Hi Sweet Christine, hmm, I hadn't thought of shrimp. I do like that. That's a good suggestion. Let me know about the Tilapia, I've seen it, but never had the nerve to try it. Thanks for your posting Christine, and you did help!! love donna

Donna- Not sure how much I can help, but I can tell you that Tilapia is very good. Not fishy at all. Also, the fresher the fish the less fishy they are. Also, the whiter the fish the less fishy (in my experience). I'm not a big seafood person, but I know that if I go somewhere that it's super fresh, almost anything tastes good/decent. I'd try a really fresh piece of Tilapia...might help. Good luck! Sounds like you're getting some good advice! Christina S

First let's start with this .. Calories in .. Exersise gets them off . If you are eating 900 a day .. and min exersise .. yepper you will maintain and maybe drop a pound or 3 ... Anerexic .. I don't think so missy ... what you are going thru is the same thing I did .. except I am a physical nut case and will not allow a weight gain .. fanatic .. yes .. Ok .. 900 calories .. hmmm any idea what is in those 900 calories .. ?? Gimme a list of a day in the life of Donna ... I for one .. can not do any red meat .. I try .. and it comes back up ..after 2 years .. I am still unable to eat any steaks .. I have tried once of twice but just cannot do it .. at 10 months out .. I was getting in 800 calories .. 20 carbs ... and 120 grams of protein .. But here is the key .. I swam .. I walked .. I ran .. the weight melted .. I am a different case .. my nut and doc said I had the motab of a man .. believe that ?? I for one think you are doing just fine ... you are eating the same things I did at your stage .. If you can not get in the protein by meats or fish DO THE DANG PROTEIN SHAKES .. you must have protein Donna to survive .. and we all knew going into this that food was not a great big option due to several factors .. some can eat it all .. others like myself .. well we ae limited .. .. Try new dishes .. try some other types of protein . if you like I have a great article on this .. I will send it to you .. All bodies are not the same .. we all motabolise differently .. you just need to sit down .. list what you are eating .. and adjust somethings.. But 7 pounds a month is nothing to sneeze at my dear friend .. you are doing excellent .. and you are only half way into your journey .. 9 months does not constitute OVER .. you have just begun my sweety .. If you want to talk about it via phone .. email me at [email protected] I will be happy to talk to you and see what we can do to futher ease your mind . I love you and very proud of you . Nat

Hi Natalie, thanks so much for this info. Nat, I do exercise - I do pilates and jazzesize 5 days a week, plus yoga and salsa, so I think I am ok on the exerise bit. It's just the lack of variety and all the protein drinks I have that worried me. I'm not complaining that I want more variety I just want to be sure I'm doing okay with what I'm eating. Of course, I'm going to print your response so I can keep it in my notebook!! As usual Natalie, you were a big help, and I knew I could count on you. Thank you! love donna

Sorry, Donna. I would love to help, but today is the first day that I can eat food that didn't have to go in the blender first. Though there was a point where I wished I had thrown the salmon filet in the blender. Good luck! Looking forward to seeing you again in Richmond! Julie
