And noooooooooo I am not talking about little booths that you go into.. I was wondering when and where in your weight loss journey did you start to hit plateaus or did your weight loss slow down or stall out for a while? How long did it take before it picked back up? Thanks in advance. i was just curious as to everyone else's personal experience with this !!!! Dana

Between 3 and 5 weeks I lost very little. Since I had lost 34 pounds before surgery, I think my body was just taking a break. I have had numerous stalls and am in one right now at 176 lbs. I had really hope to be under 170 before my pop and sis get here Friday, but that ain't gonna happen! I'll just keep on keepin' on. Lois 277 (peak)/267 (consult)/176/ 130 (goal)

Dana , Honestly ... I only went about 11 days with out loosing . And that was about month 3 . My body decided to say ... " What the Heck are you doing to ME ??? " I increased my protein .. water .. and changed up my exercise .. and Wala .. it started coming off again . I was glad to see you used the word stall .. and not the dreaded Plateau .. O how I hate that word .. I see so many that complain of being in a platuea ... when a true weight loss platuea last about 6 to 8 weeks ... so if you are or ever experience a slow down .. and it last for merely a couple weeks .. you are in a stall ... What Nat said about a change up in your exercise is good advice. Everytime I slow down I view it as my body's call for "MORE, MORE". Last time that happened I upped my walk distance to 4 miles. Yesterday I decided that the PACE of the 4 miles needed some jostling, so I turned up the gas and made 4 miles in 1 hr and 5 minutes. It was that I walked 3 miles in 1 hr. I have started sprinkling in some jogging, too. I had sworn to get more mt. hiking in, but $ is holding me back this month. Not that hiking costs, but the big diesel 4x4 is quite pricey to fill and it is 30 miles round trip each time I go to my favorite spot. PLUS--My 'friend' from work I have already written a very little about, suggested short hikes (he is stout), so my fuel budget is having to do double-duty as my social life budget right now. HENCE my walking 4 miles from the house and back at increased pace! . I have small dumbbells that I want to start taking with me the NEXT time I need to give the exercise a good shake. On the diet side: I find that the more carbs I eat the longer the stall. I am not eating much meat at all so the plateau buster diet is difficult for me. I now get most of my protein from Syntrax Nectar and find what I eat often has too many carbs/calories for the loss I would like to accomplish. The calories mount up fast! I did get a watermelon and some grapes yesterday. I find they seem to inhibit my loss LESS than a slice of bread or potatoes mixed with chicken. PS--Are you having trouble with hair loss? I am still fretting. My daughter had basically not paid attention to my complaints of hair loss, until this week. She told me she could tell my hair was thinner at the crown in the back--where I can't see. And, I had been fussing about my hairline in the front . Good luck! Lois

Hey Lois, Regarding your hair loss... I had some significant hair loss which lasted about 6-8 weeks (during months 5 and 6). I TRIED not to worry about it, remembering that I've heard several times that it's only temporary. Well it's stopped and I'm back to pretty much normal hair loss now. I have a lot less hair, but I expect it will grow back. I just stay focused on that protein and I got a good hair cut with my hair a little shorter than normal. Good luck! Tammy

Thanks for the suggestions Lois !!! I hear ya on the fuel thing. It is costing a fortune to fill up a Suburban and another truck on top of that !!! I will change up my routine some. Maybe use some ankle weights when I go jogging. Man..i will probably die from that though !!! Yes, I am getting paranoid about losing hair. My hair is just like yours..long, fine, and blonde...I don't have much to spare when it comes to hair loss. I THINK I see it coming out..but my husband says I have always lost this much hair. I bought some Rogain for women from Wallmart to use just in case !!!! Have you tried that? I have used this a few times but it is a pain because you have to put the soluation on your scalp. My hair wants to suck it all up..so I don't know how much actually gets on the scalp. I will watch the carbs..I eat so little it seems that I haven't been counting the carbs..but I guess I should start !!! Dana

No haven't tried Rogaine. I am putting my faith in what others keep telling me--that it will start growing back in before too much longer I have to get my head right this afternoon. I wanted to get my walk in earlier, but Co wanted to drive up to the Parkway to pour a libation in honor of Jim (my dearly departed) on his birthday. I wanted to get in Dr. Phil after the walk--well...Guess I'll have to walk AFTER the show Lois

I've had a few slow downs... at about 6-8 weeks and then 4 months, and then RIGHT NOW. I tell myself that my body is adjusting and that when my losses slow down my body is shrinking to catch up! You know how little kids eat more than usual and sometimes get a little chunky just before a growth spurt? It's like that, only in reverse!! Just keep on doing the right behaviors, just as Lois and Nat said, and you'll stay on the right track. Tammy

Hi Dana, I'm experiencing a stall right now that has lasted for 3 weeks. The sad thing is I weigh 200 pounds - it's a CRUEL JOKE my body is playing with me because I can taste ONEDERLAND This week I'm kicking it up a notch on my excercise routine and watching all carbs and hopefully this will kick me into onderland. I had surgery on Jan. 27th and I've consistently lost weight until three weeks ago so I think I need to shake things up a bit. I want to get this weight off - 50 pounds to go! Start Weight - 262 Current - 200 . . . so close to Onderland! I'm DETERMINED to get this darn weight off!!! Hugs, Jean
