Myspace Account

For those of you that got up this morning and did not see me on your Myspace page . I have deleted my account from there . The main reason I did this is after several news stories of children using the site that are under 18 and sexual preditors lerking among them , I just decided it was not a site I wanted to be on . Yes I know they can go anywhere to do this . But it just seems that Myspace is a lerking ground for sexual preditors and I just choose not to particapate in a site that does not screen better than they do . Nothing personal . # 2 .. I just do not have time .. I rarely go to Myspace anymore .. For everyone that ever posted to me .. blogged with me .. and chatted ... thank you .. I have an email address and if you want it please note me here and I will gladly share it with you . You all are always my friends .. on Myspace or here . Hugs, Natalie

Ditto. Deleted mine a few weeks ago for exactly the same reasons, though I didn't get specific. Very f-ing scary...people sharing wayyyy TMI to people that, in reality, could be totally mis-representing themselves in an effort to gain confidences and do harm. David

I watched that piece on NBC about the Myspace predators--how frightening! I had made an account to be able to read students' postings, (at their invitation) but just never found the time to do that. Now I am very glad I did not. I did read one of our cheerleader's pages, and it was HORRIBLY lewd. She was in 8th grade and was inviting guys to smile at her for sex in return!! There was also a link to her older sister's page (college freshman and former student of mine) that was full of pictures of the sister in various naked poses. I determined right then that Myspace would never be for me. Cody had a cyberstalker bothering her 2 years ago, from right here in our own community. He tried to blackmail her for oral sex--threatening to call my work and tell the prinicpal about her drinking, --anything he thought would make her give in. She told me, printed off the threats and we turned them in to the local police. He pleaded guilty in court. She was 19 then. I wonder how many YOUNGER girls he got to first, easily frightened girls? Get this, his wife supported him through the entire thing and believes Co made all this up! Co only uses the internet to look things up and occasionally to IM friends. This episode scared her almost to death. Thank goodness for her having the courage to tell me. I laud everyone's decisions to get out of Myspace. We all have to do our parts to STOP these freaks!! Good Move, Tink !!! I have NEVER liked myspace.com because it is so easy for perverts to lurk there. Not only does it allow some freaks to use to computer to make all their moves..it encourages it. Have you seen some of the pages on there? Good Greif, God Almighty !!! It is simply a covert porn site in many ways. The internet is so awsome, but the bad apple will always seems to find a way to spoil it . Not only internet pervs, but the company's the feed off of those creeps and sell spy cameras and such. I use to talk to my neighbor online. He was always on late at night and so was I when i got off of work just to wind down. About 8 months later that jerk has his spy cameras in my windows. I walked out on my back deck one night and some reason looked towards his house and saw a strange faint green glow off of one of his gutters. Sure enough it was a spy camera..and he had one going into my kitchen windows also. There was little the police could do about it because there are few laws yet on "Video Voyerism." The told me to keep my blinds closed, etc... I humilitaed this pervert as much as I could by warning all the neighbors and letting everyone know what he did/does. I had to be careful because he could have gotten me for harrassment. Isnt that some Bull **** ???????? So yeah !! I am glad you got rid of myspace. I never liked it simply because of the reasons you stated. Hope you are feeling better. Dana

I made my account a secure one that you have to request for my invite. It says that I am 14 but only because of the security thing. You have to do that to make it PRIVATE. I also have it so I have control of what is posted....Oh no I took that off when I put up the private account. I still have mine but hardly go there. Mine is just a few buds from around my town I am in now and have been in in the past Navy travels. I have never had any problems with it and sorry you did Tink but I understand why you removed your profile. Hugs! Shele

Good move Nat! I only keep mine to chat with my cousin when he is in Iraq. That is the wasiest way and he is my only "friend". I never accepted anyone else and when he is home for good then I will be deleting mine as well. Tammy
