What a difference a day makes!!

Hey everyone!! As many of you know, the past few days had been quite difficult as I was having terrible bloating and gas pains as well as cramps in my calves from low potassium making it difficult to walk. Well I woke up this morning feeling waaaay better...a whole lot closer to normal. Yesterday my mom and I took a walk (more like a hobble because I was having so much trouble walking) down the bike trail behind Shore Drive. It took about 30 minutes and I want to guess that we did a total of about a mile round trip. Well today, not sure where I got the burst of energy from but I walked about a mile one way (I map quested a nearby location), turned around, stopped at 7-11 and all the way back! Boy did I break a sweat!! My calves were still achy so I was a bit slower than I'd have liked to have been but I did the whole trip (including the 7-11 slurpee stop) in about 40 minutes. I am a bit tired and sweaty but feel great!! I feel so blessed that God has given me the chance to take back my life and I will not be wasting another minute!! Yeah Me!! Christine P.S. WOW Moment! (more like "Get a Grip Moment" ! When I stopped at 7-11 for a Crystal Light Slurpee, I started to go for the huge cup that I normally would have gotten and opted for the 2nd from the bottom. I filled it up, grabbed a straw and headed for the cashier. While standing in line I all of the sudden realized that there was nothing that I could do with this daggone straw and my slurpee was filled above the rim of the cup (you know, the bubble top...filled ALL THE WAY). I stood outside of 7-11 staring at the slurpee and the straw trying to figure out how I was going to do this. I sucked some out, dumped it until it was below the edge of the cup and ate it like a kid would do (it was red and I made quite an impression on the numerous walkers on the path as I ended up with a red mustache). And BTW, if you are newly post op and you are walking in the heat, there is no way to finish that 2nd from the bottom cup before it melts...go for the smallest...it will be more than enough! HELLO, CHRISTINE, YOU CAN ONLY TAKE LITTLE SIPS AT A TIME!!! Sorry that this is so long but...

It's funny because you always hear people ay "my eyes were bigger than my stomach...for us newly post ops, it's probably physically true!!" But that slurpee was a nice treat!

Hi Christine! You are doing great girl! That is really funny about the slurpee - gotta admit it sounds good too. I didn't even know they made Crystal Light Slurpee's! So can we not have a straw for the rest of our lives? I didn't know about the straw thing until Natalie (Dave's wife) told me, of course, after I bought an extra large water cup with a straw and handle. You did great on the walk! You are definatly on your way! I know you must feel wonderful! Hugs, Andrea
