Food Amount Question...yeah, I hate them, too...

...but, I have to ask. I'm about 7 and a half months out and I feel like I'm eating so much. No, not compared to what I used to eat, but compared to other people at this stage. I know we're all different, but I'd hate to be an abnormaility. For example: Monday night at dinner, I ordered surf and turf...lobster tail with a 6 oz. filet. I was able to eat about half of each and some of the calamari appetizer. I'd say I had about a quarter cup of the calamari. I also had two martinis and a double espresso for dessert. I felt full at the end of the meal, but not overly stuffed. I have felt stuffed before. I had the waitress box up my leftovers and by the time I'd finsihed my espresso, I could have eaten more. The major problem I see is the drinking while I'm eating...is that allowing me to eat more food? Do keep in mind that this is just a martini, we're talking about 6 oz of liquid over a two hour period. Anyway....thoughts...comments...complaints.

Hello beautiful! Ahhh this would be a me thing too. Drinking and eating together are but heck we aren't perfect. It's VERY easy to do especially in a group and while having good eats and great convos! So I'm currently training myself (AGAIN). I choose NOT to order anything to drink before I eat or if I do I have the waiter/waitress bring my food later or I pu**** aside and literally time myself. I'm 3.5 years post-op I can tell you even now when I don't eat and drink together I do better. I've noticed since doing that I am feeling better and doing better. I will drink and wait 20 to 30 mins THEN eat or vice versa. Not always but more often now. You are NOT alone sweetie. I'm sure others will respond but it's definitely tough not to eat and drink together. Good luck purty lady! Kat

Oh my sweet Lacy .. Yes .. you are breaking a very big WLS rule . Many come to me complaining that they have stalled out or are not loosing . My first question is .. Are you drinking with your meals .. and almost 90 % say yes . You must never drink with your meals .. My rule is no liquids 45 minutes prior .. and nothing 60 minutes after . This gives my food time to get down the hatch . When we drink and eat .. it washes the food right our of our pouches .. and there is no way that the food gets a chance to register ... Some need to drink to get food to go down .. I say small sip if necessary .. but no long term drinking w the meal . You must make it last .. it is all disapline sweets .. I hope this helps . Nat

How in the world do you manage with the stalistic ring in place . I could not drink and eat if I wanted too . My ring prevents me from a lot of things . I have to eat like a bird ... literally . If I even try to eat and drink . I vomit .. and get really ill . Now if I get something stuck I can sip on warm coffee. Please sweety .. try to not do this . I am telling you , I see more people stall out there weight loss due to this . It is hard .. but it can be done . Call me if you want to talk it out . thanks, Nat
