I just wanted to let everyone know that I have bragged so much about not yaking.. that I finally was lucky enough to have been there. Last Thursday night I had to have another sleep study done so I took along some SF Twizzlers...only had a few as I was reading and at 12:00, I started feeling nauseated...course, I couldn't just jump up and run to the bathroom....had to call the nurse to come unhook me!! I take off running down the hall and thank goodness, I made it...read the package for ingredients and there it was.. Maltitol aka sugar alcohol..what a nasty experience. Why didn't I try this at home first???? Who knows but I know now....bad sugar alcohol.....bad, bad. So now, I know what it is like to "dump" and don't want to go there again. Love you guys muchly! Hugs, Betsy

Hey, Betsy! Sorry you had problems! Rich has had bad digestive issues aka that "laxative effect" from the SF licorice. He has learned his lesson. Twice. I was worried about him once. Kept asking if he was okay. Then I saw the empty bag from the licorice and knew that he had overdone it and that in his case his issues were somewhat self-inflicted so I teased him good about it. The one surgeon from Pittsburg showed us an upper GI that showed a mass in someome's pouch and it was licorice. They had to go in and remove it. It lumped together and blocked the stoma. That stuff requires a fair amount to digest so be careful! Hugs, Kathy

Hi, Sweetie....Wow, that is scary about the licorice...required surgery??? OMG, I am staying away from that nasty stuff for sure. Definately not worth the taste, especially the second time around...LOL...Hope to see you again soon. Hugs, Betsy

Aww I'm sorry you had to Betsy...I still get icky on anything that has a sauce on it or anything that has been fried. I know I'm not supposed to be eating it anyway...but I miss it...and I just want to try it...you would think I'd learn!! Papaya Enzyme is my best friend...I have it everywhere!! Sugar alcohols give me a really bad headache...so I have to be really careful too! Miss you bunches! Jill

Hi there Stranger! I am out of my Papaya Enzymes and will have to get some. Well, I have been lucky so far and now that I know about the sugar alcohol so I will stay far away from them nasty things. So far that is the only thing I have gotten sick on. Was worried there for awhile thinking that the surgery didn't work. Doh, of course it did...I have lost 80 pounds...tried on your harley shirt today but still too small...not long though...Jim thought it fit just fine...hehe. That is my biggest problem right now is getting clothes to fit...My sisters are falling out of my bras...hehe. But life is wonderful and I miss you too...btw...I think the pictures of you on your deck are amazing...you look incredible. Can't wait to see you again...what are the dates for the cruise...I am still planning on coming up to babysit...hehe. I love ya bunches. Hugs, Betsy

G'morning Betsy - I remember in the early days of "testing out the new stomach" ....I used to just cringe when I'd eat something one day and the next day, my mouth would star****ering, my throat felt constricted and then BOOM, it all came back up. For me it was NOT dumping, never did dump, but it was learning what 'sticks and what doesnt stick' from day to day. I also couldn't WAIT till my life became normal and my stomach would calm the heck down.... [sigh] ... well, I got what I wished, it calmed down and I can have anything and everything with no issues now. Oh my my, what I'd do to have my pouch making all the decisions and having the final word in lieu of ME. LOL, I KNEW eventually all the responsibility would transfer to my shoulders (and head), but I didn't want it to be THIS SOON, ya know? Sorry to hear about the Twizzler episode, but glad to hear you're feeling better now. Hugs - Lei

Oh Ms. Betsy how awful. That sucks that you had to learn it that way especially when you were not at home. Courtney
