I got a call from the surgeon office today saying that my Beta Carotine is low. It is supposed to be 48 - 100 and mine is 27. (This was at work) At home I also received a called from the Dietician who I had just seen at 10:00 and was told to get B-12. My question is are they the same pills or different and what is Beta Carotine?

Beta carotene is different than B12. B12 you want to get sublingual tablets (under the tongue). We don't absorb B12 through our digest tract anymore since we don't have the instrinic factor in our stomach anymore. You put the B12 under your tongue and it gets absorbed through the mucus membrane. Beta carotene gets converted to Vitamin A in the body.
