Joy, I have Anthem insurance. From my experience they were not hard to deal with. Is there anything speciffic your friend would like to know about. Here is a link from anthem about coverage of weight loss surgery. http://www.anthem.com/jsp/antiphona/bcbs/nav/ilink_pop_native.do?content_id=PW_037637 Melissa

Melissa, thank you for your response. Someone told her that WLS is not covered by Anthem. I thought I saw Anthem on the boards here a few times and told her I would ask around. She will be so glad to hear this it will really make her day. I will pass on the link so she can check it out. Take care, Joy

There are several different Anthem policies. My Anthem covered all but the $300 for lifetime nutritionist services. How could I ask for more? Of course, MCV is part of their system. Lois

Hi Joy Depends on the policy...my sister has Anthem Health Keepers and she had to pay cash for her surgery (Julie, tell me if I am wrong). The best course of action would be to call the number on her card and ask them if they cover and what requirements they have...depending on the company she works for, and if they have purchased the rider, that should tell her if she is covered and what she needs to do... Hope that helped Dianna

Your friend is going to need to call the insurance itself to see if the surgery is covered. And, at the same time, I would highly recommend a trip to HR. I have Anthem HealthKeepers, they do NOT cover the surgery. My employer also offers Anthem Keycare PPO, they DO cover the surgery, but ONLY if your company carries the rider. There are a million different versions of Anthem out there, yours might even go by the same name as mine, but yours might be covered while mine is not. It's confusing. Good luck. Julie

She works at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. Hopefully, it is the same as yours
