Getting Started...

I am in SE NM.  I plan on attending two seminars this month....one held by Barker Bariatrics, and the other by Advanced Bariatrics. Both in Lubbock.  I know Barker does the surgery in Dallas, but says he has an office in Lubbock for follow ups.  Does anyone have any feed back on either of these? I would really appreciate the help.

Hi, I'm also from Lubbock. Advanced Bariatrics is a local business. I looked into them doing my WLS. I also went to an initial appointment with Dr. Barker at his Lubbock office. However, after lots of prayer, information from veteran weight loss people here on OH, I went with Dr. Daryl Stewart from Denton & Dallas area. He also sees new patients in Lubbock plus does the sleeve here in Lubbock once a month. I had already set mine up in Frisco, or I would have had him do it here in Lubbock. Dr. Stewart also has a local surgeon and GP that see any of his patients that might have emergencies. I have NOT had any complications since my April 3rd surgery and have been SUPER pleased with Dr. Stewart. Please don't hesitate to message me if you have more questions.

Thank you Susie, and Vivian!  Susie what do you know about Advanced Bariatrics?  His staff seemed very nice,and even helpful and I can't find anything against him online. They went into great detail explaining the test he does pre op and it sounds like he's very thorough and cautious which I appreciate.                                                                                                                          I've come across Daryl Stewarts name a couple of times.  I'm actually in Carlsbad, so Denton is a long way from here.  But I didn't know he did the sleeve in Lubbock. Thank you for that information.  I didn't realize the hardest part would be picking a doctor.

I have a couple of friends who have uses Dr. Syn and really like him. I only visited via phone with his office, and yes, they were very nice. I had to pay all of my WLS costs out of pocket so the cost was really important while at the same time, I wanted a skilled surgeon. I found both in Dr: Stewart. Dr. Syn & Barker were (could have changed) significantly more expensive. I was initially looking into having the DS surgery versus the VSG, so in that case, Dr. Stewart was the best DS surgeon of those three hands down. Sorry to have to run.
