Laura,
Thanks for your encouragement! I am sure that I will need lots of help in the weeks and months to come. It is good to know there is a place I can turn to for support and information. Again, thank you!

Congrats!  May I ask how long it took to get approved?  I have BCBS right now, but it will change to UHC Sept 1, about a week and a half after my final required check in.  Making me wait a whole year is torture, but I'm afraid that BCBS will stretch it out even longer, because they can.

Well, my file was submitted for approval on July 10th.  My surgeon's office is very conscientious about getting everything the insurance company may need BEFORE submitting. My very first appointment with him was toward the end of April this year.  I could have been approved a month ago, except the stress test came back with some issues, and I had to have a heart cath done. All in all, I believe the response time was great.  The insurance company has 30 days to reply, and I had approval in 13 days.  Hope this helps.  I can't imagine having to wait a whole year!  By the time I finally asked for help and started this process, I knew I was at the end of my rope, and just didn't have it in me to lose the weight again, knowing that it would come right back.  The past 90 days of testing, etc, have been tortuous for me, and I have had the full gammit of mood swings, etc. with the waiting.  Good luck to you, and I hope you are pleasantly surprised with the turn around time.
