Good morning TX OH er's. Off to the salt mines for another fun day at work. I'm just trying to stay busy now until the end of the school year. So far I have been able to by helping others with their work. Nothing going on at home tonight. It is my first night off this week. Looking forward to doing nothing.

Good morning I am up early today, going with my Dad to see a surgeon in Dallas about colostomy reversal. He likes the surgeon in Sulphur Springs but would like him to have it at better equipped hospital. Only taking morning off so work is still on the agenda. Hope every one has a great day!

Good Morning Everyone,

My son in Teen Challenge got engaged to his girlfriend of 9 months yesterday. Hopefully they will be engaged for a year or more. That is what they are saying anyway. Tuesday night at Teen Challenge chapel in Azle some of the guys were asking about him and some that had transfered there from SA told me that they had MOLD there and that I should look up the symptoms for mold. I think the heart issues are caused by the mold. I am NOT going to tell my son this though....he HAS to go back and complete the program and graduate. He only has 2 months left so I think he can hang in there that long. I AM going to have a talk with them about this when I take him back next week. I do NOT like the fact that he is exposed to this and that the other men there too have to endure this. His future MIL told me last night that I should call the SA Health dept. and let them know that they have mold. Not sure whether to do that or not. Don't want to get him in trouble with such a short time left. I may just go and let them KNOW that I know that there is mold there and that could be the reason for his heart palpulations and tightness and pain in his chest....especailly since he was checked out by 2 different hospitals with nothing showing up. Please keep him in your prayers. Have a great day and drive safely with the wet streets.

The mold needs to be verified if it is black mold or other. It is not good to be exposed to black mold. Yrs ago I worked in an environmental branch for DoD and it was always taken seriously..

I'm not sure it's black mold but still mold Barbara. I know that they could use bleach to clean up mold on the walls if that is it. Some of the guys that transfered out of there told me that it was IN the walls. Not sure how they know that even. Not sure what to do about this but he HAS to compelete the program and that is the bottom line on that. I am praying it IS the mold causing the issues and that he doesn't have major issues with his heart. I think that is it since the hospitals had No answers and found nothing concrete.

VIVIAN-just a word of friendly advice..take it or leave it...Consider your sources...DO report it to the City of Austin Health Dept-they will HAVE to do an investigation-esp if the program recieves State/Federal funding, of any sort..it will be the HD's responsibility to investigate/follow up/etc. These reports are generally a matter of public record (you might even see if there is ALREADY an investigative report for mold)

DO NOT go directly to the people at TC there, and report what "you know"..it may not be TRUE..or may BE true..but..either way..Shawn will still the "targeted one"..and will be probably be pissed at you..at least MY sons would be none too happy with me, I bet...

It's like when I report a case to APS. It's not for me to PROVE there is case of elser abuse. It's MY responsiblity to REPORT, and the APS peoples' responsiblity to INVEATIGATE/validaidate/get the police involved, etc...Does it always turn out like I think it should???...well...no..but SOMETIMES it does, and that always makes it with all the effort!

Gina....I think I'm going to ask if they could change him to another room. I am going to report it but as I know that they can treat him bad and "target" him as you said like he was done in Azle....I do NOT want anyone EVER treating him like that again. But he does have to go back for the 2 months and complete the program. He's too close to graduating and with his addiction history....he has to finish. He has a better chance of staying sober forever if he completes the program. Please keep us in your prayers as I come to grips with this and decide what to do. Thank you for your advice. I am going to go online and check and see if it has already been reported.

VIV-my only personal experience with mold, was in a rent house many, many yrs ago, and it was in the insulation, or something, which made it be all over the house. I'm not sure if just changing his bedroom location would make a difference, since he's probably all over the bldg, going to groups, dining room, etc..

But...like I said..my knowledge is EXTREMELY limited..but..hey..that's why we have GOOGLE--right ?????
