UPDATE ON MY SON

 Ok Everyone....here is the scoop.   He went to the ER in San Antonio today.   They did X Ray's of his heart ( that all looked fine ).   They talked to him about his former drug addiction and he wasn't doing the stuff long term that causes heart damage.   Strange that heron wouldn't damage your heart.   But anyway they said he needed to go to his PCP and have a ecocardiogram and have his heart monitored for 24 hours.   He doesn't have a PCP nor does he have a job, money, insurance or anything else.  Hard to believe a city as large as San Antonio has no county hospital to help out people in need.  Geezz !!!   He has a 5 day pass on June 11th.   I told him unless he gets worse when I come and get him I will take him to JPS when we get back to Ft. Worh.    It is a shame he is getting his life back on track and then this happens.   PLEASE keep him in your prayers.   We truly can't afford to pay all the medical expeses that he would rack up with what they want done.   Can't believe they didn't do a eco on him.    UGH that REALLY upsets me !!!   Thanks for listening to me vent and praying for him.    Love you guys !!!

VIVIAN-glad it wasn't something more "emergency"-BUT-had it BEEN-I'm sure it would have been handled-$$ or not. San Antonio has many indigent programs (think of the multi socio-economic classes who live there)..maybe Shawn would not qualify because he is not a "permanent" resident. Regardless, if had been an EMERGENCY, I don't think they would have sent him home.

As for when he gets home..YES..help him help him make the appts, but, of course, HE is still in charge. HE needs to register with JPS, etc. There is no reason for you and your DH to rack up huge medical bills (though I know you would happily do so, to ensure to health of your child). It is possible there will be some "lasting damage", from the drug usage", but it doesn't HAVE to happen. Many users turn out to be perfectly, physically healthy.

Mostly, PLEASE try not to worry yourself sick over things you have no control of..like I said..TRY..lol

I would have thought the folks at Teen Challenge would have some resources to share w you all. Surely he's not the first person to get sick.
I hope he feels better soon and that it's nothing serious. Prayers being said.
