Support Groups in Austin??

I am moving to the Austin area next month and wondering if there any support groups out there.  My surgeon is from Austin so I will also check with his office.  I am 17 months out and have not attended any support groups at all and I am thinking I really need to start. Thanks in advance

Welcome to OH Texas Message Board.   I am going to privately send you Jennifer's phone number.    She and Monique head up a support group in the Austin/ Round Rock area.   It is a fairly new group but a really good one.    They are both wonderful ladies and then there is Liquidman who also helps out with those meetings too.    I know that you will LOVE them and their meetings.   Have a blessed day and welcome to Texas.

Thank you, I am already living in Texas, I had my surgery in Austin, but havent attended any support groups and I think I need to.  I do appreciate it!!

KIMBERLY-ditto what VIVIAN said..JENNIFER and NINA have started a GREAT support group. They have made me an "honorary member", and I intend to attend every month. The next meeting is this coming Saturday, so I THINK that makes them being the 3rd Saturday of the month. One of them always posts it here, and on the Main Board.

Last month, they had a new member-PATTI-who is now a competing body builder-something she never would have done pre-op-amazing lady!

Support is absolutely KEY to success! I don't know ANYONE makes it without support. I sure never could.

The Austin group (I think it's called RR Rox-they'll smack me for getting it wrong), is still small and personal-NOTHING to be scared to walk into. So far we have been meeting at Ikea and Starbucks. I assure you will only be a "stranger" for about a hot minute!

I'm Jennifer with OH Rox Round Rock :)  We'd love to have you join us when you get moved.  We meet the third Saturday of the month...   This months meeting is this coming Saturday at 10:30am at starbucks on I-35 and University.  It is near IKEA in Round Rock.  We will be talking about emotional eating.  I can send you the notes after the meeting if you'd like.
