I'm new to the Texas Forum.  I'm still tying to figure out how to make my tracker show on my posts so was playing around with that and found the individual state forums.  I had a Lap Band in 2008 and thought it was a great tool until it slipped the 3rd year.  It actually always did pinch me so am glad to have it out.  I am 7 wks post op RNY.  I started the RNY at 245 and am now 215.  I was really tired the first month.  The only other issue I've had is hating every protein drink I've tried.  Finally bought unfavored today and will make my own and put the powder in things.

Hi BARBARA!!! Welcome to the TMB-so glad you found us!!!

You won't find a better group of people ANYWHERE, for support/questions/etc..and not just about WLS. We care about each other in all areas of our lives. Some of us have known each other for years..many of us have met IRL..some only "know" each other online..but 99% "met" RIGHT HERE, and we are bonded for life...

I'd like to invite--and encourage--you to check out our daily "train" thread. You'll find where the headings say "Monday WLS Express", "Tuesday WLS Express", etc..It's where we just kinda check it, talk about what's going on, etc..like a neighborhood bar.."where everyone knows your name"..we've been thru surgeries/wt losses/wt gains/wt relosses/births/deaths/marriages/divorces/you name it/we've done it together..and yea..and we fight over "Dancing with the Stars" sometimes..and we pray for each other..

Also, check out VIVIAN's daily "grateful" post. I've been slacking on it, myself, but vow to do better!

We've been known to take road trip to see each other-Tx is big, so miles are necessary to get a physical hug-you do what gotta do!

Quick intro--I'm Gina (you'll also see me as "Nurse Diva" sometimes-long time nickname)..I'll be 10 yrs post RNY this coming Sunday..half my former size.not skinny..just healthy..hospice nurse..mom to 2 grown sons, ages 20 and 22..I live in Joshua, just south of Ft Worth..

Please feel free to jump aboard the Wednesday WLS Express-I started it, a few minutes ago-you'll be welcomed with open arms!!

PS-on the protein thing...it's a crap shoot. I've tried a kagillion proteins, ver the years. I prefer my liquid protein to be warm. Click has been my "go to" drink for over a year now. I love both the Mocha and the Vanilla Latte. flavors. Message me your address and I'd be happy to send you a sample of each, in ziplock bags (feel honored-I'm very possesive about my Click-ask my sons!). If I need a quick RTD (ready to drink) shake, I buy the EAS 4 pack, from WalMart, in the chocolate fudge flavor (and I don't even really LIKE chocolate-but I like these-go figure!)..For your unflavored protein--SF flavored syrups can be great for making your own "science experiments". My WalMart had more SF syrups, yesterday, than I've ever seen them have before-they had Torani brand SF, in vanilla, caramel, raspberry and chocolate-they were on the shelf over the coffee creamers..

Looking forward to getting to know you. Welcome to the family!

Welcome to the TMB Barbara,

Glad you found us and congrats on your revision.    I use Dymatize ISO Gourmet Vanilla.    It doesn't have a yucky after taste and it is very good with jus****er ( trust me....I CAN'T say that about any other protein ) LOL   It also is NOT super sweet which you will find out most of the powders are.    Not sure what area you live in but I am a OH Support Group Leader and I have a meeting ( usually ) the first sunday of each month for one hour in Keller, Tx.    Like Gina said we are all one big family.    Oh I am going on 7 yrs. post op RNY and I too am half my former self.     Good luck to you on your WLS journey and glad to have you join us on the TMB.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE;   COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN;  AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!    THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

HI BARBARA !!    I'm so excited you found us too !!     We are a very loving group.  Like Gina says - we've prayed together, hugged each other, cried with each other and traveled together !!

WELCOME TO THE TMB !!

So - what part of TX are you in ??

I, personally LOVE and prefer the Atkins Shakes and the GNC Chocolate Caramel flavors.
Unjury has a chicken soup that I LOVE too......but I just can't seem to get that "warm" enough to melt and NOT clump up...so I haven't mastered that one yet - but their Chocolate and vanilla are very rich, and smoooooooooooth..............LOVE those too......   I'm not much of a "click" protein person because I can't STAND Expresso - I don't necessarily want my coffee walking to me - I wanna go to it !!  lol           Just kidding.....

I am and will be 5 yrs post RNY this upcoming Oct
My daughter Amanda, (25yrs old) just got the sleeve done about 3/4 weeks ago and she is doing good too....  Mom is NOT that much of a good example due to a gain over the past 2 yrs and just cant get out of my "rut"  but I love my tool and this TMB family / OH Family....

Alot of us are on Facebook too - if you are a FB user
I'm  Phyllis Mayer    Cant wait to meet you....((Huggsss))))))

  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

PHYLLIS-you know Click comes in Vanilla Latte also-right?..not just the Mocha expresso stuff...I get a canister, of each, auto-shipped each month, from amazon. I'm thinking I read somewhere that there is a de-caf version now-or WILL be..but..you know ME..I ain't gonna be wanting any de-caf...lol!! I already mix both types of Click with coffee, instead of water, for EXTRA caffeine, first thing each morning..

De-caf...what a waste of water....

BARBARA-so long you put an avatar pic up-look how gorgeous you are!

Ablilene is only a couple of hours from me--easy peasy road trip--got a Cracker Barrel or Starbucks? Those seems to be our fave meet up places for meeting new family members. I'm "booked up" every Saturday thru May 5th, but, after that I'll be ready to head west..so

Get ready!

We have both establishments and it would be great to meet you.  It took me awhile to figure out how to get the pixel right to accept my picture.  I tried  to post one with my big red hat and finally realized it wasn't going to accept it no matter how much I shrunk it so I had to post a different pic.  I get on OH when I rest with my laptop and all my pics are on the other pc.  All weekends in May we have something scheduled for us.  Anniversary and a high school graduation are the two biggies.  Our 17 yr old granddaughter came to live with us the 2nd semester of her jr yr.  The parents were moving around with the military so we suggested she get to spend at least the last of her high school in one place.  Up to the 11th grade she was in San Angelo so it was a big change for her when the moving started.  She's a joy so we've loved having her with us.
