PB2

Got the regular and chocolate PB2 - yesterday.  Found it at Market Street for $6 a jar.  Tried the regular last night and the chocolate today.  Good stuff.  The numbers are much better than my previous diabetic friendly peanut butter (Fifty-50) and tastes much better with a better texture than the high-sodium Walden Farms.  PB2 regular and chocolate will be keepers in my meal plan.

Yum, yum, yum.

Going to get some of that Julian Bakery low carb high protein bread tomorrow - hopefully - if they have any in stock tomorrow.  Going to try a piece of that bread toasted with regular PB2 and a slice of 2% cheddar cheese.  The way I figure that, it comes out to 214 calories, 22 protein, 6 carbs, 354 sodium, 8 fat, 14 fiber.  That will make a nice change from my typical breakfast of egg whites and be a nice addition of fiber to my diet.

The only way I ever tried the PB2 was mixed in shakes and pudding. I will certainly try your suggestions..

but...are the PB and cheeses on the SAME bread? ...maybe I won't do that one..

I'm not a big PB eater-of any type-but I like the "easiness" of the PB2..

THANK YOU for sharing your experience/ideas

I like plain PB2. I just use it in oriental stir fry using cabbage, onion, chicken, soy sauce and Asian low cal dressing.

I've had cheese and peanut butter on crackers and, as I recall, I liked it. I'm going to try cheese and peanut butter together on the bread to see if it is something I like and can tolerate. As the bread is high in fiber, it may be a bit much for me, but I sure do need the fiber.

That Asian stir fry sounds good. Is there a low sodium soy sauce product? I have to watch my sodium.

Going to try banana slices coated in the chocolate PB2 powder and see how that goes as a snack. I figure 1/2 a small banana with 1 tbsp. of the chocolate PB2 equals: 68 calories, 3 protein, 15 carbs, 36 sodium, 1 fat, 2 fiber.

I need to collect some high protein, low carb recipes for this summer when it is too hot to cook or eat.

Thank you Gay for the thumbs up on a lower price for the PB2.   I am out and haven't taken the time to go get some yet.    Hope you enjoy the change up for breakfast.    I may have to check out that bread too myself.   Have a blessed Good Friday and Easter sunday.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

That bread is hard to find. As soon as these stores get it into the shop it is sold out the door. I went to a store on Zang street in far Dallas and all they had left was the cinnamon raisin bread, also low calorie and carb and high protein. I'm not sure how I'll like that with peanut butter and/or cheese but I'm going to try it in the morning. It is a little pricey - $8 for 16 slices. But, as I will only eat at the most one slice a day, that bread will last me at least 16 days. As there are no preservatives in it, the bulk will have to be kept in the freezer with only a few pieces at a time in the refrigerator to be thawed out to eat. I tried a tiny piece of it tonight and it is rough - dry and dense. The guy at the store said it makes great French toast. Something to try and see how it goes.

Had the cinnamon raisin bread toasted with a 1/2 tsp. lightly salted butter, PB2 regular, and a slice of 2% reduced fat cheddar cheese for brunch.

The Julian Bakery low carb high protein #1 bread is a little less in calories and would probably make the overall taste of this combination more what I was hoping for even though it was pretty tasty with the cinnamon raisin low carb high protein bread.

What I am going for is the addition of enough fiber to my diet to keep regular without having to rely on Smooth Move Tea. I like that tea but I also need options and variety.

Here is how PB2 describes it:

PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter
It's what's not in PB2 that makes it so good for you. For starters, our special process removes 85% of the fat calories without the chemicals typically used in producing reduced fat foods. Something else you won't find in PB2 is preservatives. What you will find is natural roasted peanut flavor that's also available in a rich chocolate variety.

See their website: http://bellplantation.com/
for more information, including recipes.

You can order it online or you can do a search at:
http://www.bellplantation.com/products/locator
to find a store near you that sells PB2.

I found mine at a Market Street grocery store.

Absolutely love this stuff.

I just had some of the PB2 chocolate in a sugar free chocolate pudding. Yum. Yum. My sweet tooth is so very, very, very happy right now.
