Dumping question?

Im a newbie & havent started eating solids yet. I am wondering if anything besides sugar causes dumping?

 I dump on greasy foods too.    In fact the smell of fried foods make me nauseous at over 6 yrs. post op.   Congratulations on your surgery.

Too much suar, salt, fat and carbs for me. Everyone is different. You need to stay away from fats and carbs anyway, so you should be fine .

What about fruit? Natural fruit? I had a pureed  banana & was fine.

 Alma....sorry I didn't get back on here yesterday.   Usually fruits are fine.   When  you do start to eat solids.....take a bite then wait about 5 minutes to see if it sets well with your pouch before proceeding further.    Also stop eating when you get a feeling of satisfaction rahter than when you feel full and you should be fine.    Just make "wise" food choices.   Don't be alarmed if when you eat something that doesn't agree with your pouch that you head for the restroom the "loose" what you just ate.   Good luck and I know that you will do fine.       Enjoy your WL journey.

Besides sugar I also dump on fat and carbs if I over do it.  I measured my portions for at least the 1st year to make sure I didn't over do it.

I usually do fine with fruits as long as I don't eat too much at one time.  I typically can eat a banana with no problems.  Everyone is different so you will just need to find your limits.

ALMA-everyone is so very different-what knocks one of us into a fetal position, on the bathroom floor, may not phase you, at all.

For ME, what gets me is usually things I don't "see coming"-like combination things-if there is hidden milk I didn't realize was in something, or there is more sugar alcohol. I can eat "Cool Whip Lite" just fine-but the "Sugar Free" knocks me in the dirt, from the sugar alcohols. It took me awhile to figure that one out.

My best advice: try NEW stuff at home..or always scope out the potty/exits when you try new stuff

It's an ongoing process. some peeps NEVER dump. Some of us still do-I do, at nearly 10 yrs out, but I cannot physically vomit, so I just have to dramically "heave/carry/promise to never do it again" for 20-30 minutes, until it passes

Oh..and always keep a bottle os Papaya enzymes in your purse..always!! They are fabulous for stuck food/nausea
