Hello everyone, I am in the process of my 6 month medically supervised weight loss and almost done with it actually and I was wondering if anyone in the dallas area has any recommedations for Bariatric Surgeons. I am seeing one in my home town and honestly got disturbing news about his procedures and what right down to no other dr. will touch me if he performs my surgery so I am looking for someone in the Dallas area and did not know who to look at first. Any suggestions will help TY

Hello,

I used Dr. James Davidson for my revision to RYN.  His office is locate at Presbyterian in Dallas which is where I had my surgery.  He also does surgery out of Forest Park Medical Center as well.

TAMMIE-welcome to the TMB! You won't find a more supportive, friendly bunch of FAMILY anywhere. If you allow it, we'll be with you, on your journey, every step of the way. I want to encourage you to post often, get to know us, and let us get to know you. As much as your family/friends love you. nobody can "get you" like peeps who have walked in your shoes..

As for your question, my surgeon has retired, but there are several revered surgeons in the DFW areas. NO doubts TMBers will chime in. I'm sure you know you'll want to be sure your insurance covers whichever surgeon/hospital/surgery center you choose to switch to. Your prior visits should switch over for "time served" on your 6 month stuff-but do be sure to ask FIRST, so you won't have to start over. Each program seems to be so different-and with so many hoops to jump thru.

You have right to have questions. You are trusting a surgeon with your LIFE-both present and future. Go "interview" as many programs as you need to. Go to their free seminars-whatever you can do.

Good luck-and please do start posting with us!

Dr. David D. Kim is my surgeon and he is EXCELLENT.    His office is located in Colleyville though not Dallas.    He has support groups and is the most caring doctor IMHO that there is.    Good luck with your quest to find a surgeon.    There are lots of good ones in the Dalllas/ Ft. Worth area.
Welcome to the TMB also.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Thank you for your responses everyone, I have began to start contacting other surgeons. Setting up times will be the interesting part since I only go to Dallas once a month. However, I am completley turned off from my current Surgeon after I heard that he had a high rate of leaks, bowel perfs, taking the belly button, and that there is not another surgeon who would touch me after him if I would need something. With that being said, I've always been a little off with him since I've been on a 2 protein drink, and one small salad for dinner for the last 5 months, don't get me wrong I've lost almost 70lbs doing it but I'm afraid it will do more harm than good in the long run. Thanks again for the information I'm gonna get moving on getting appointments! :)

Okay so I called everyone that was suggested as well as some others and sadly I was unable to find someone that takes Medicaid. I will keep looking but a bit discouraged lol.

I just joined this forum tonight so am reading older posts.  I see you have Warnock listed as your surgeon.  Is he the one you are upset with?  He did my surgery on Feb 24 and I couldn't be happier.  He had to remove a failed lapband done by someone else.  Warnock has a very good reputation.  I know several who have gone to him (some as far back as 10 yrs) and never has anyone complained that I know.  I think how one does after surgery has a lot to do with following the guidelines and the person's overall health.  I've got several health issues so was concerned about having the RNY.  I know he gives his patients his cell phone number and I don't know any other Dr that does that.  The hospital staff is also very good.  I just wanted to help you feel better if you decide to have your surgery in Wichita Falls.  I'm not from there but am glad I used this Dr.  His nutrition class is awesome.
