Hello from DFW!
I am new to this site and scheduled to be sleeved on Feb 28 by Dr. David Kim. I would love any advice you have for pre-op such as dealing with the liquid diet, not freaking out about the surgery, etc. I am a real mix of excitement and nerves at this point. Working on the nerves thing... Biggest problem now is I can't sleep well at all.
:)

Welcome to TX Oh and congratulations on being approved for your surgery. Pretty much everyone gets nervous and anxious about it. I have no advice on the liquid diet because I didn't have to do me. It is for your own good for surgery, so just know you have to do it. The surgery will help you quickly lose weight, but you will have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life. it's just one of those things you have to learn to live with.
WLS is a wonderful thing. You will be glad you had it.

Welcome to the TMB and OH,
You have a AMAZING doctor. I am 6+ yrs post op RNY and Dr. Kim is MY doctor. As for the liquids......do popcicles, jello, and I believe you can have broth too. You may want to call his office and talk with someone to confirm that you can have this. It has been ALONG time since I did my liquid diet so things could have changed. Lots of support groups available for you with him. He has his monthly group ( 1st wednesday of the month in his office 6:30 PM ) and then once a month we have a support breakfast ( Sunny Street Support....last sat. of the month ) I post it here and on many of the other message boards and once a month I lead a support group on sunday ( usually the first sunday but due to Super Bowl....it will be this sunday ) in Keller. It is called LOSE IT 4 LIFE. You are welcome to attend any or all of these for support. You are welcome to come to mine this coming sunday if you would like. Try Melatonin for sleep....it is natural and it is found with the vitamins. I think we are ALL a bundle of nerves and excitement pre op. Just know you are not going through anything that the rest of us haven't gone through. Feel free to call Dr. Kim's office anytime for answers to your questions. PM me anytime and GOOD LUCK !!!!
Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Hi There !! I meet w/ Vivian and Dr. Kim's group monthly for the breakfast meetings....
Hoping I get to meet you this month......I believe we will meet on 2-25-12.
I live in Irving and my daughter, Amanda is pursuiting Dr. Kim for the sleeve also.
She's in the "waiting" phase right now..........so hoping we will know something in the next 2 months if she is approved or not thru insurance .
Welcome to the TMB. This is the most friendliest group - but if you dont' wanna know something - THEN DON'T ASK..........feel free otherwise to ask questions. !!! there are all surgery types on this board and none of us are biased - because each has their own opinion and it is 'THEIR' choice on which way they choose to go....... I don't think that you'll be bashed on your decision here at all !!
LUV YOU !!
