PRAYERS NEEDED FOR FAMILY OF DARWIN COX

For those of you that live in the DFW area I am sure you heard of the 23 yr. old man who was found dead saturday in a tent near the UNT campus in Denton.    He was a family friend of 2 of my sons and his Mom and Grandmother were former neighbors of ours.    PLEASE keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.     I had not heard what Darwin was doing in quite sometime now but my youngest son saw him a month ago with a church friend.    I know that Darwin is in heaven now with Jesus but it has really hit my middle son hard since Darwin was a drug addict.   Thank God I was with him yesterday when my youngest son called me with the news.    PLEASE keep Shawn in your prayers also as he deals with losing a "good friend" to drugs and to the living conditions of Darwin.    Thank you so much for praying on here for all the needs.   I KNOW some of you get tired of seeing me post prayer requests......BUT God does hear and answer prayers and also he cares about "our lives",    Thanks again.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

I'm very sorry Darwin was never able to find out drugs are not the "answer"-perhaps his death will serve a true PURPOSE-with Shawn being personally hit by it-he can know "if I hadn't gotten into TC-that could have been me"-he can use Darwin's example in future sermons.

Much sympathy and prayers for Darwin's survivors. I can't imagine their pain. He wasn't a druggie in a tent to them-he was their family. No doubt they are feeling some gulit-but I bet HE burnt alot of bridges, and I bet they did the BEST they could, dealing with his addiction.

Again, my best to all concerned.

Gina.....PLEASE keep Darwin's Mom in your prayers today.   I didn't sleep well last night from the things that I learned about the sweet young lady who use to babysit my sons when they were little ( that was his Momma ).    I am going to call his grandmother in a little bit and ask her if I can go sometime today and talk to Suzette ( Darwin's Momma ).   Ya  see....she is ALSO a drug addict.   I spoke with her Mom last night at the funeral home and she REFUSED to go.    Her Mom said she was SO messed up.    I feel God telling me to talk to her about Teen Challenge.   I know that she knows all about it since she went to my church till she was grown and the Teen Challenge women attend my church.    But sometimes it takes someone who is NOT family to get through to a drug addict.    My heart grieves for her...because by the grace of God that could be Shawn laying in that casket.    Please pray for me that she will talk with me and that God will use me to get through to her and Darwin didn't die in vain.    I love you Gina and thank you SO much for all the prayers.    Shawn will NOT be able to attend the funeral ( I am not either due to it being at our church at 4 PM and I am always headed to Teen Challenge at that time on tuesday night.    I know that God will eventually send someone if I am not that person to get through to Suzette.    She always liked me as  a young teen so I am hoping and praying that God will soften her heart and let me say the words to get though to her.    Thank you for being so kind and praying for these needs.     Try if you can to pray for the family at 4 today and all the young people in our church *****member Darwin and who he touched their lives.    Also pray that this Occupy Denton group doesn't get lots of media coverage over this.     The family said that they are trying to use Darwin';s death to get the word out about their group.

VIV-even if your well meaning words do not make an immediate impact on her NOW-they may very well "plant a seed" that she will recall later, when her heart/heart are more clear/responsive.

Also, I've been wondering-why do they call it "Teen" Challenge, if it's for all ages? If I was the one "in need" I think that would deter me from going there..just wondered, and been meaning to ask you that

Thank you Gina. I spoke with Suzettes Mom this AM and she suggested I call her daughter in a few days so she will be more receptive to me and what I am going to say to her.    Teen Challenge was started by David Wilkerson and I am not 100% sure but I think that it originally was for teens only.     The drug/ alchol addiction is so bad in adults that I am sure that is why they opened the program up to pretty much all ages.    Now that being said....teen campus is in New Mexico and the adult campus is ALL over the US.   To read about Teen Challege go to this link:     http://teenchallengeusa.com/program/
It will tell you all about Teen Challenge.     All I know IT WORKS !!!!   Have a blessed day.
