I am getting revised from sleeve to DS. In the next few weeks I will meet with at least 3 doctors. I was sleeved in 09 and had a hard time loosing weight with just the sleeve. I have always known RXY isn't for me with the dumping and all. Although I have a sister that has been successful in keeping her weight off. She struggles 15 years out with gas, dumping etc terribbly.  I wanted to DS local patients to share with me in the Dallas/Ft Worth area their experiences. Dr. David Provost seems to have the most experience. I have Bluecross/Blueshield antheum and hope to have this done before the year is out. I have paid half my deductible for migrane treatments. Thanks you and God bless you all!

Never heard of Provost.  Never.  I seriously doubt he does the DS.  I'll happily read any non-biased information/statistics you can give me--i.e. his actual record of DS surgeries, mortality rate and success rate.

Ahhh, my husband found his website.  Provost has been doing bariatric surgery for 20 years and he specializes in RNY and pouch revisions.  Nothing about DS.  In fact one of his videos pretty much says he doesn't do the DS.

For the DS, Daryl Stewart is the single BEST option in the state of Texas.  He's been doing DS for over 8 years. His prices are the best and he accepts BC/BS.  He is nationally recognized.  He did over 80 last year alone.  His mortality rate is extremely low.  2 non-surgery related deaths in 8 years of doing surgery on patients with severe obesity and comorbidities.  Of the nearly 25 of his patients we have here in Lubbock, all but one have hit goal before their one year.  The one who has not had a great deal more to lose and is still losing steadily.  Everyone seems to be at about 30% of EWL by 3 months and continue at that rate.

Wade Barker began doing the DS last year.  I have personal issues with him but he is, coming along as a DS surgeon.  We have one Barker DS who had severe post-op complications but is doing very well since.  She is on track to hit goal before 18 months.  Our other Barker patient an RNY revision--she went in wanting a DS and ended up with an ERNY.

There are several other bariatric surgeons in the DFW area.  NONE of them do the DS.

Thanks for the information! Barker has a southlake location closer to me, so I plan to check him out. It's good to met with more than one. I like to see what the office staff is like and such from my own experience. I am straight shooter, but I like to get my questions throughly anwered and be treated respectfully.  Denton is farther away for me. But will check out Dr. Stewart. Thanks again for the info. God bless and enjoy your weekend!

Please don't let the distance to Denton keep you from the best surgeon.
