How long after last nutritional class?
Good Morning,
I have a niece who just started the process with your doc. I assume after you have done everything that is required of Medicaid and all the work is turned into them and you are approved.....it is then up to the surgeon how long the waiting period is. You may want to call his office and ask them that question. Good luck to you and hopefully soon you will have a date. Does Medicaid just pay for lap band or RNY? My niece is just now starting the process gettng paperwork from her PCP. She would like the Sleeve if they pay for that. But she is despirate like we all are when seeking out WLS and will take what she can get. Good luck to you.

Thank you for the info. My niece wants the sleeve. I had RNY almost 6 yrs. ago although she thought it was only 3 months. 6 months is doable though. Congrats and please keep us all updated.

The process varies for each method of payment - - or insurance plan.
I'm not sure about the medicaid processes at all.
But with my plan -I believe it was about 2 mos from the last nutrition class until I was actually in the hospital having the surgery - but I had started the proc in Jan of 2007 and had surgery in Oct 2007.....so mine went really quick. I had had just recently all of the "tests" needed for health reasons and wasn't a smoker at all - so all I had to do was the 90 day nutritional counseling and the submission for the pre-certification - approval......once that approval came thru......then I had to set an appt for an extended visit with the nutritionals for all the things that I needed to KNOW for AFTER surgery eating and requirements and then the doc's program required a visit with them again for the same thing as well as a hospital visit on what to expect and then about 5-6 weeks - later - I was IN THE HOSPITAL !! My case was very quick........not always so on all other cases....so I was very fortunate - I didn't get denial after denial and so on....

- Current Weight: 263
- As of 11-10-13 I have had weight gain. Not happy about that.
- RNY: 10-16-07 = 338: Highest weight: 350+ Lowest Weight: 199
...Patience is not my strong point

As far as I've seen in some state agencies - there is nothing that will light a fire under ANY of their butts. Just my attitude !!
