BCBSTX declined sleeve surgery

Is BCBSTX hard to deal with for WLS. I got declined immediately because of my psych eval. There really wan't really anything out of line in there other than a past history of binging. My recommendations were to be part of a support group, implement lifestyle changes well in advance, and eat small meals throughout the day. I have completed the 6-month supervised weight loss and nutrition classes. I'm confused??

I have BCBSTX and didn't really have trouble, but it was over 5.5 years ago. If they declined because of your psychological, I would suggest getting therapy, possibly from the person doing your psychological eval. That way when they think you have dealt with issues they saw, hey would probably send in a letter saying you had therapy and are ready when you are.

It's hard to understand why e psych veal would hold you back, but after you have had surgery you will understand more. The effects on your mind, especially when you are further out from surgery is overwhelming for many people. I bet if you deal with it, you will get approved before long. It's much better to go into surgery with your mind in the right place!

What part of Texas are you in?  Have you looked at trying another counselor that does the evaluations?  What about a therapist?
