new from houston
hi y'all
i'm kind of new to all of this and nervous - haven't learned nearly enough about all of this - but i have completed my 6 month nutrtionist supervised diet -
not sure how i haven't absorbed much about all of this - i really didn't think i'd get approved for surgery because of insurance concerns, but i'm starting to be more hopeful about that, and am realizing i'm ill prepared!
any advice for someone approaching this? i'm looking around the forums and trying to get a handle on how the site works, but i'm still pretty confused lol
thanks in advance!

Welcome Annie! What surgery are you going to have? We have several good support groups here in the Houston Area you might want to check out the specific surgery sites here. Then there are several OH groups the Katy Crew, Pasadena Possie and the Baybrook group. Also University General Hospital has a good group that meets the 2nd Wed of the 6st floor of the hospital on Fannin just off 610. They meet 6:30p-8:00p. We are here for you just ask and someone will answer. I had the RNY 23mo.s ago revised from Lapband best thing I could have done. My health issues have disappeared or improved and I can eat fairly normal and live pretty normal. With any surgery choice it is what you make it. If you follow the rules and are flexible with you foods you are willing to eat to get your nutrients you will do well. Remember the tool works if you use it and fails if you abuse it. Good Luck with your journey.

Congrats for working on the process. Hang in there and keep working towards approval. I bet it will happen before you know it. I go to a support group in Spring, but it is for people at least a year out of surgery.
