relocating to Corpus Christi
We are moving to Corpus From Va sometime in July. Does anyone have any info on Dr's or support groups in the area? I am only one month out from surgery so I need to find one fairly quickly. I am really excited about the move. I grew up in Oklahoma. We used to drive to Dallas all the time. We also went to corpus for vacations when I was little. It is almost like coming home after living on the East coast for the past 15 years.
Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hi,
My name is Vicki and I live in Corpus Christi. I'm almost 5 years post-op. I had my RNY in San Antonio with Dr. Nilesh Patel. Dr. Patel is with Texas Bariatric Specialists and he does have office hours in Corpus Christi on a regular basis. When I had my surgery, no one was doing bariatric surgery in CC. Now I think there are a couple of doctors who do Lap Band here, but most everyone goes to San Antonio or Victoria.
There are two support groups that I know of. Dr. Patel's group meets at his office once a month on Thursday nights. I'm not sure about the other one. I think it's affiliated with the group out of Victoria and meets at CC Medical Center, but I don't know when they meet.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a lot of support available in Corpus Christi. I've found most of the support I need from the Texas Message Board.
You can get information from Dr. Patel's practice at http://www.texasbariatricspecialists.com/.
I would love to meet you for coffee when you get to CC. Just send me a message or friend me on Facebook. My name is Vicki Skelton Valenta. If you have any other questions, just let me know.

Vicki and her husband Patrick are both sweethearts too. Just had to add that in. You will love them both. Welcome back to Texas.
