Lipodern Injections?

Has anyone heard of the lipodern (lipozene? Lipoden?)  injections?  A weight loss clinic is doing them and my friend lost a ton of weight.  
Know anyone that has done them? What are they about? How does it work?  Anyone tried it and loved/hated it?

I don't know much about it, but I understand that it just makes the fat more readily available to burn when you reduce calories and increase exercise, otherwise, the fat is redeposited and you don't see a change. I don't know of anyone who has used it, but I have to think that if it really worked well, we wouldn't have so many people with wieght problems.
