Hello TExas
I live in Abilene and am having my sleeve done June 6th by Dr. Nick Nickolson. I am excited. I can't wait. Has anyone used him?
Also, what can those of you who have had the sleeve tell me about the pain after this surgery. I am a single mom with a 13 year old so I kinda need to know what to expect. I have a pretty high pain tolerance but I am not as young as I used to be.
Thanks for your help and any advice you can give me and oh yea, ever since I found out I am having the surgery all I want to do is EAT. did anyone else experience this?

Wanting to eat is normal after planning surgery. You know you'll be cut off from your beloved food soon. You are better off taking off some weight now if you can. Many surgeons require it to help make surgery easier. If you start giving up food now, it will help train your brain to live without so much of it.
Good luck with your surgery.

Of course you want to eat~you're convinced you'll never eat again, lol!! We all went through that feeling. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to find anything to eat cuz I'm so fussy but it turns out I can eat anything I want just smaller portions. So take a deep breath and hold on for your dear life cuz this is gonna be a wild ride~get to know you're local thrift stores cuz you're gonna be shopping for new clothes every month for the next year!!

Dr. Nick is a good surgeon. I did not use him but I know that there are many people in the Dallas and surrounding area that has used him and had great results. I think when you get a surgery date you tend to think that after your WLS that you will never eat again. But trust me....most people will still be able to enjoy the foods that they loved pre WLS...just in smaller quantities.

KIMI-sorry took me so long to respond-was not online much yesterday.
First off-WELCOME to the TMB (Tx Messgae Board)-you will not find a better, more knowledgeable group of people ANYWHERE!
Secondly, I agree with everything KARLA and STEPH said.
Thirdly, I have net Dr. Nick on several occasions, even though he was not MY surgeon. I have friends who used him, and speak very highly of him.
Good luck on your journey, and please continue to share it with us!!!!!
