6 years ago today I started on a wild journey that has taken many twists and turns. About 8 years ago I checked into WLS and Dr. Wongsa, although a great surgeon and is loved by many, actually scared me off of getting the surgery. 2 years later a woman I met turned me on to Dr. Wilson. I went to a seminar and the rest they say is history. I have met people on this board that have and will have an everlasting impact on my life. People I still consider friends and talk to regularly. If your thinking about having wls, weigh all your options. I would do it again in an INSTANCE! I have had no major problems. All my labs are good, my bone density scan was good, am I at goal? No, I am still about 50 lbs from goal. But, with the help of my support system I have recently dropped 23 lbs and I am on the right track. And, as of today I am still 123 lbs down from my heaviest. Has everything been positive? No, I was told if you have a weak marriage that WLS would speed of the separation process. Its, did, no support from the X and she couldnt deal with my new found confidence and friends. She left. No, its not a sad story, she left and a few months later I met the love of my life who has blessed me with 2 wonderful children.

So, if your just getting started? Enjoy the ride.

Woohoo John what a success you are!!  I'm no longer on the other board so I'm glad I got a chance to congratulate you here.  Keep up the good work and post here once in a while so I can keep up with how you're doing.  I'm very proud of you for working on those last few pounds.

Happy Anniversary John.  Congrats on dropping 23 lbs.  As we've stated numerous times, it's a "forever" journey, there is no end to it BUT it beats the heck out of where we started.

Onward and Upward my friend.

You have a wonderful wife that supports you along the way and 2 beautiful babies plus Weldon (I'm not leaving him out).  Keep on keeping on.

Kudos to you.  I've met some amazing people through WLS and I'm honored to have met you too.

Edit:  Yeah I agree Dr. Wongza can scare peeps off.  :)
