meat is not my friend

Meat feels like it gets stuck in my chest and sits there and burns. I chew, chew, chew. I have started taking a  Zantac every morning so we will see. Also, going out to dinner with my hubby is a major letdown and waste of time. Last night I had two shrimps and when the meal came i could only take 1 bite of fish and started getting that burning feeling.

Sorry for the vent just struggling i guess.

You may be too new out from surgery to be trying really dense proteins yet....

Just be patient and try it again later down the journey......try different things on diffrent days..
There are peeps that still multiple years out that cant do certain meats....

beef tends to be worse than other........I personally don't have a problem with anything !!     I love meat - just some meats make me fuller quicker than others.....so if I pay attention to Ms Pouchy -  it works still !!  lol

Good luck
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

We need more info before we can comment on your situation.  Which surgery did you have and how far out are you?

I agree with Steph...more info needed.  Burning isn't a usual thing I've experienced with meat.  Feeling stuck at times yes, burning, no.  You may want to go see your doctor and talk with him/her about it.

How far out are you?  You might need to step back if you are a new post-op and continue with tuna salad or chicken salad.  I know it was easier for me to eat dark meat chicken first when it came to dense meats.

Burning feeling isn't the normal response to meat. I would talk to a doctor. You may have something else going on that needs to be taken care of. Now, eating 2 shrimps and then only being able to eat a bite of fish can be normal, especially if the shrimp is big. But that would just make you full, or feel like something is stuck, which could hurt. It could make your nose run and have post nasel drip, which is wierd, but true. It can make you sneeze or hiccup or throw up, or just wish you could throw up. But I don't know what would cause burning when you eat meat.

To this day, 6 years as of today to be exact, I have problems eating real dense meats, the leaner the meat, the harder it is for me to handle.

I would like to help you but you cant fix stupid.
