My district's BCBS/TRS insurance covers lap-band and RNY. I am in Arlington. Don't know if all districts have the same covered procedures.

It definitely should cover lap band. I got approved for lap band by it over 5 years ago when Lap band was still fairly new. I ended up having a gastric by-pass. I think it even pays for the sleeve now.

found out that they do cover lap band but you have to have a BMI of 35 + 2 comorbidities. My husband is hoping to qualify to help control his diabetes but he has to gain 17 lbs to get to a 35 BMI. with his current medication he can't seem to gain weight.
