Why is it that when i was really chubby my body didnt have any pains? my back never hurt, knees were in excellent condition, ankles were strong, etc. but now that i am preparing my body for RNY by cutting down on food and being on the liquid diet does my whole body hurt? my knees are the worst now. i wake up every morning with horrible back pains.
i was also informed that im no longer allowed to take aleve after my surgery. what else can i take? i have to take atleast 4 tylenol to get any effects.

Nasids contain ibuprofen which could cause ulcers especially on a new gizzard.  May need to talk to your PCP about alternatives.  Can't help on the pain thing.  I get up and my knees and ankles sound like a box of Rice Krispies - snap, crackle and POP!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

How long have you been on the reduced/liquid diet? Yu body most likely is experiencing a "shock" of sorts-and there wil be MANY more, as you continue your journey/have your surgery/lose weight. The good news: Most people's bodied DO adjust. As you lose weight your "center of gravity" gets all thrown off-as do your hormoes. It's a wild ride-but one I wouldn't trade for ANYTHING.

As for meds. yes Aleve, Aspirin and other NSAIS are hard on the tummy/possibly caude ulcers and are on most doctors' "no no" list-but ask YOUR doctor. BUT-if you're taking FOUR Tylenol at a time now, you're not only wasting your money-you could also be damaging your liver. The maximum amt anyone should take is 2400-3000mg/24 hrs. If you're taking 4 X-Strength, that's 2000mg right there.

Your picture makes you look young and beautiful. May you have  a long and HEALTHY life!!!

Hi Heather,   My suggestion:  be safe/smart & mention your new aches and pains to your doctor.     Lisa

I have to take Tylenol for the arthritis in my knees. I've found that the Tylenol Rapid Release work the best. All the others are pretty much useless for me. But as Gina said, watch your total mgs foir the day. NSAIDS aren't good for anyone's stomach, even 'normies'. Be sure to talk to your surgeon and PCP about future pain meds. I was told "Don't worry, there's other things you can take." So I didn't question him further. After surgery when I stressed one of my knees and needed something more than Tylenol, I was told "Sorry, you don't want to start taking narcotics unless you absolutely have to." We should have had that conversation BEFORE surgery!  So talk to everyone involved and get a plan in place beforehand in case you need it.
